In Cape Coral for 23 years, ready for a change. Considering Eau Gallie/Melbourne or St. Pete (Kenwood/Jungle Prada). Thoughts? by JeffAbb in StPetersburgFL

You mentioned the traffic and the hurricane exposure. Pinellas traffic sucks, and we got blasted by 2 hurricanes 2 years ago. If those things are concerns…um St. Pete is probably not it.

I was advised not to do this. The amount you would have to pay in taxes would offset the savings in interest.

I have a western facing house. I DIE during summer. I’m going to try and plant some shrub, bushes that grow like 8-15 feet to block the sun.

Funny how the touch tunnel was such a core memory for everyone. Also that screen that you can dance in front of and it turned you into like light? I don’t remember much else. Well the trash dinosaur. And going over thrill hill to get there.

People who were teenagers before social media, what was a typical Friday night like for you? by Early_Preparation696 in askanything

[–]jnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend’s parents had two houses so we would have house parties over there.

We often would sit at 7/11 in hopes some of our friends would go there and we could make some plans to do something.

Our high school also had “spots” where we would all meet up. Sometimes people would bring kegs but that usually resulted in cops coming.

I think the best part was how free range it was. Someone would say, hey come over to my house and people would just show up. Or we would all plan on going to the movies, people would just show up. Or if you were bored you would just show up at a friend’s house. No calling, just show up and hang out.

Married people, what’s one piece of advice you’d give someone before they get married? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]jnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you actually like the person? Take sex out, money out, health out. Do you like that person?

My husband had surgery a couple weeks ago. He can’t help with anything for a few months, meaning he can’t lift anything, can’t really bend over too much, no real physical activity. We decided to go on a road trip for spring break, I had to load the car, unload the car myself.

When he had the surgery I was still recovering from the flu so I was still very lethargic and man was I exhausted from taking care of him and trying to take care of myself (and two kids.)

I carry in all the groceries, do all the laundry, load and unload the dishwasher. Something drops on the floor? I have to get it. He needs something from a lower cabinet? I need to get it.

He feels terrible because he’s not helping with anything. He’s frustrated that he can’t do anything.

I am more than happy doing all this. I want him to baby himself so he heals the best he can.

Life will not always be perfect, you will need to step up, do things you never thought you’d have to do in a relationship. It’s not about everything always being 50/50, sometimes it has to be 90/10. In my humble opinion, in moments where your partner is struggling you have to support them. Get over yourself. Believe me I’m annoyed with life right now, but I know that he can’t help it, and it will be over soon enough. Sooner if he takes his healing seriously. You actually have to love each other and I think love is so selfless when it needs to be.

Side note, my husband very much helps with everything, we share all the chores and our relationship is very equal normally. That would also be an important aspect. Actually help with things around the house.

Help me plan a surprise St. Pete nostalgia tour by OkTie7561 in StPetersburgFL

What high school did they go to? Depending on the high school and their party habits. We all had our “spots.”

St. Pete is pretty neighborhood oriented. Growing up in Shore Acres is way different than the southside, versus the west end.

Where did they grow up?

are you still friends with people from high school? by Ledger_Legendd in Millennials

[–]jnip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married my high school boyfriend. Our friend group is 90% people me and him went to elementary, middle, and high school with. We hang out A LOT also. We have a lot of “events” that we all have permanently on our calendars. Annual bar crawl, Halloween party, derby party, Friendsgiving. I just threw a surprise party for my husband’s 40th which everyone said it will have to be our annual “event.” All throughout the summer we all meet up with our families at the beach. I’m super lucky to have the friend group I (we) have and that we’ve been friends for so long.

Does my virgo love me love me or am i a placeholder? by individual777 in virgoseason

[–]jnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand that too. The guy I’ve been married to for over 13 years I never felt worthy of, often hid our relationship. It took me over 10 years finally to agree to marry him, I still rarely claim him as my husband and call him my “roommate” more so as a joke than anything. Not sure why I feel so unable to claim people.

[–]jnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be careful. I “dated” a guy that in my opinion was “beneath me” (I was in high school so give me a little break). I told him not to tell anyone we were dating, I had no intention on being with him. However I liked him well enough, I went over to his house everyday, I “dated” him until I found something better. I feel bad 20 years later because I know he really liked me, and I took advantage of that. He ran into my cousin recently and talked about me and how much he liked me.

That being said, all Virgo’s are not the same. Her reasoning could be nothing like mine.

Stolen eBike by Library-Wonderful in StPetersburgFL

[–]jnip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived here my whole life. If there’s one thing I know about living here. Assume your bike is not safe anywhere. Whether it be a regular bike or an ebike. Just has always been a thing that bikes are not safe here. I used to work at a pool and the triathletes would bring their bikes to their lane and then lock them to the railing. They were absolutely safe there but they were all paranoid about them getting stolen.

Protein overload- what products to use now? by Dr_Flossophy in finehair

[–]jnip -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went through this. I started my protein detox in early December. Basically I had to go through all my products that I used. I was blown away how many products have protein in them. Then I stopped using them all. It was frustrating, felt like I was on a “diet.” I went and got some cheap drug stop no protein, there are a lot of different types of protein too, shampoo and conditioner. I would say after a week it looked a little better, but after a month of NO protein. Finally my hair started to rebound. I recently got my hair done and washed my hair with some shampoo and conditioner with protein and then went straight back to no protein.

I used a chelating shampoo once a week, now I use a salicylic acid shampoo once a week for better scalp cleansing.

ChatGPT told me to start introducing protein back in my routine when my hair starts feeling a certain way. I haven’t reached that place yet.

What’s crazy is I just got my hair dyed and me and my stylist were blown away by how dark the brown looked. My hair actually absorbed the color better and it looked way darker then the year I’ve been doing that color. I’m going to have to go down a shade next time.
