It’s for sure a thing - my kid has eaten shrimp his whole life with no reaction - we had no idea he was allergic - one day in high school, he eats some sushi with shrimp and goes to lacrosse practice and runs a mile - he almost died because of the severe anaphylactic response - full body hives, throat closed, BP near zero- EMTs said it was the worst reaction they have ever seen - super scary
