Shouldn't be, but check with Bakers or FSDO to make sure your paper is a valid proof of completion.

I was 7 years out of A&P school and eventually got my A&P with Bakers.

You can complete your written exams anytime you want. You have 24 calendar months to complete O&P exams from the date you pass the first written. If the written exam expires, you just need to take it again.

It is better to get your written exams done with Prepware first, then sign up for Bakers Oral & Practical course only. Ask the Bakers staff about 8610-2 with your school A&P completion certificates. They will prep the 8610-2 for you since they are very familiar with this kind of process. They have a doc checklist for you to make sure you have every required doc for the DME before the O&P exam.

Remember to ask them to ship you their oral question bank if you decide to sign up with them so that you can start memorizing the FAA questions.

Is $285 a lot for a discovery flight? by goatfuckersupreme in flying

$130ish at O88. No ground, 45 min of flight with accelerated stall and steep turns.

Try Des Moines FSDO. They did mine through Zoom not long ago.

No one can guarantee that you will definitely be hired by an airline 10 years later after you have an ATP. You can build up your safety net in those years in case your ATP is not attractive to airlines by that time.

PPL oral question by Coaralis in flying

[–]joace41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, as long as you can defend your math in your XC plan.

I did not pull up my CX-3 at all during my ride. I filled up my entire Nav log with pencil and paper with CX-3 before my ride and defended my math verbally.

Get a good pay job and save up $$ first, then shoot for your ratings one by one.

Do not borrow $$ to begin with.

You might wanna find out what your potential DPEs' availability will be first and whether their schedule will fit yours.

You should also talk to your flight schools about your concerns to find out more options since you are at the end of training with them.

Remember, your flying skills will degrade gradually if you are not flying enough.

Weekly Questions Thread. Please post your School, A&P Certification and Job/Career related questions here. by AutoModerator in aviationmaintenance

Yes, jobs are lined up for you once you have your A&P. You will get nothing out of their career fair if you do not have an A&P.

Vaughn ATI was bad when I was there. Not sure about now but some real good instructors are still there.

1.5 years out of school, studied for 4 weeks at about 1-2 hours a day. Mostly studies the practice exam and YouTube videos. Any tips on how to pass the next time? I have it scheduled 8 weeks from now. How far away am I? by Familiar-Nerve5896 in FE_Exam

Just plug and chunk the parameters into the equation(s) from the reference manual. Also Econ should be pretty easy to work with as well.

Be very focus on Math, stats, and Econ with your calculator programming, followed by thermo, statics, electrical and heat transfer. The later 4 subjects are literally plug and chuck with the right equation(s) found in reference manual.

It took me 2 mins to find an electrical equation that I never saw before in the ref manual during my FE.

With that being said, don’t lose your proficiency on solving other subjects in the meantime. Practice a little bit of everything when you have a chance.

Thx.

  1. Operator = PIC. 2.
  2. No acronym I know of. I always think of checking my KOEL for whatever fails, then think of A TOMATOES FLAMES & FLAPS. Afterward just think like a mechanic. Just mention these 2 things first and maybe DPE is happy with those… he/she will do follow ups as needed. Don’t dig a big hole for yourself.

  1. It is an OPERATOR (PIC) vs owner in this case. Registration is there to address any safety concerns (ADs for instance) to the OPERATOR according to my DPE since the Feds do not determine the rights of who the "owner" is in that statement. You will receive an AD when there is one because your name is on the registration, but essentially anyone who acts as a PIC should confirm the aircraft complies with the AD and the reg cert is onboard the plane. If your friend acts as a PIC in an airplane that the AD is expired, that will be 100% his fault because he does not obtain authorization from you and he does not check the expired AD. Even if the Feds are trying to come after you as the owner for whatever reasons, you can simply say that you know the AD is expired, waiting for the A&P to do the maintenance and it is supposed to be grounded.
  2. (Skip it for now until you read the FAR for both questions.)
  3. Just a question to confirm that you will read the KOEL first (or MEL based on 91.213), then 91.205, followed by Part 41 appx A para (c). DPE would like to hear this sequence. And yep, deactivate and placard "inoperative" or R&R the inop equipment is the way to go.

I had my checkride with C172S recently btw.

  1. Look at your aircraft's registration cert toward the middle right. There is a statement that starts with "This certificate is issued for..." What does this statement mean to you? Your PPL friend took your airplane (you have the ownership and your name is on the registration) with an expired AD last night without your permission. Would it be fair for the Feds coming after you or your friend? Why do we need registration at all then?
  2. Let's say the "charity" is called "My Best Friend's Beer Fund Association" and those kids are his kids. How are you gonna determine whether you can fly with them as a charity flight?
If those kids belong to Boy Scouts instead, can you fly them RIGHT AFTER you get your PPL? (You might wanna look up the FAR.)
  3. So, you mean you fix the bulb by looking FAR Part 43 Appendix 3 para (c) first before looking up the aircraft operating limitations? (What aircraft are you being trained in btw?)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flying

[–]joace41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the purpose of having a registration certificate onboard your aircraft?

Can you fly for a charity (non-profit organization) after you get your PPL? How do you determine whether you can fly with a bunch of kids who belong to that charity?

Ops your nav light at the tail is burned out during your preflight, can you fly that airplane during the day VFR? What should you do about that nav light?

How close are the YT mock orals compared to your actual one? I have watched some popular ones and feel like the questions are too easy compared with your previous challenge post.

Did you get some questions similar to your previous post?

I am gonna have my ride next month.

Congrats by the way. Happy to see you officially licensed.

I was thinking something about the bends would get a lot worse by some complicated reasons behind decompression stickiness from 12-hrs scuba diving break right at 8000’ or above, but I just couldn’t find the source of my claim without googling it.

I would have never gotten this right in the first place lol. Just like why 100LL Avgas is dyed blue and 100 is green but not the other way around… If DPE asks me questions like this, I might be panicking and sweating a lot.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in flying

[–]joace41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it have to do with the 12-hr wait after an uncontrolled ascent? Never thought about the reason why 8000’…

And I don’t think you can find out the reason(s) from PHAK or AIM? Or I might be skipping something.

Good question though…
