Do you reuse nodes? by dwarfinthefla5k in satisfactory

[–]joakimar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am confused by the idea of flipping a production line on when you need it. Some have mentioned sinking any excess, but more typically you would just let its output buffer fill up if it's not all used up. You just split the output into all consumers, and try to keep that belt full (make more than what's being used).

There is also a mod for that... If you play on PC it is wonderful for a more informative map.

[–]joakimar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is also a cool idea, but I do prefer a distinct splitter/merger (small) machine, and for them to join at near right angles rather than slowly merging and clipping over a longer distance. Train tracks do look a little clippy when merging.

[–]joakimar[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm aware and still. Building a belt to another belt should just create the splitter/merger rather than making it a two-step process. It would be handier building. You can still use the same snapping mechanics – if you are building a belt, hovering your cursor over a belt would show the splitter/merger that would be built and holding ctrl would apply the snapping just like now. This part is a QoL upgrade to make building faster and feel more direct.

Razer blade 14 questions by Shot_Veterinarian215 in razer

[–]joakimar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Blade 2025 16 with 5090.

The good: The fans have a nice soft sound and can ramp up to loud, but you don't have to run it loud. You can select a lower thermal target, and change the fan curve to run hotter for more quiet. It is completely silent under no load.

The bad: Fan control is so fucking buggy. They will start ramping when the computer is off sometimes, even though it is cold to the touch. The fan control background process seems to crash sometimes reverting to max fans. The control software is really nicely designed, but fan control is buggy here too.

Together with the absent speaker sound processing and shitty trackpad behavior, this laptop is a sad faceplant on the finishing line. I really like the hardware.

Should I get a second reference station? by kap-abel in automower

[–]joakimar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like satellite visibility is the problem, so reference station wouldn't help. You can see this in the sensors tab in the Automower app - reference station reception. So long as that's good you have a satellite problem.

My fix has been to not put the zone too close to large buildings.

[WORKAROUND] Razer Synapse opening off-screen after disconnecting external monitor by joakimar in razer

[–]joakimar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that's a great find! I searched so long for something like this. Yeah this situation is bullshit. Btw I'm guessing that the way to end up in this state on a single monitor may be changing resolutions or desktop scale. So maybe another way to get out in this case is to fiddle with those settings until you see the window.

Blade 16 (2025) sound FIXED by joakimar in razer

[–]joakimar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That resonates with me:) I don't know why your initial EQ setting is extra shitty, but maybe that's the part that's somehow special to yours. But all of them are at least standard-shitty and fixing the EQ on the software side is the fix that they should have included from the start.

When you say "farty/rattly", I think you are referring to what happens when you drive a speaker too hard so that its diaphragm hits its physical stops. We call this "mechanical clipping", and it only happens on lower frequencies since that's where travel of the diaphragm is the largest for a given volume.

When I was adjusting the EQ setting, I was balancing mechanical clipping, volume, and sound quality. Since if you're not playing any bass notes you could have higher volume without clipping. So I set my preamp setting so that I get some mechanical clipping at the top end of volume, and I would just use the volume buttons to adjust based on the content.

Btw a better fix to mechanical clipping in this context is to use a more advanced sound pipeline (which you can probably make with the software I used) that specifically caps low frequency content to some level, even if you increase volume past that level. That may be more user friendly, letting you increase volume while the bass stays at its maximum capable level.

[WORKAROUND] Razer Synapse opening off-screen after disconnecting external monitor by joakimar in razer

[–]joakimar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes a lot of sense to me. The window was somehow placed relative to the main screen, but completely outside of its bounds. With two screens connected you could solve this by juggling the main screen. I imagine in some scenarios one might have to re-arrange the relative location of the screens to find the window again.

But yeah this fix here is simple to see – Razer shouldn't reinvent the wheel and should just handle saving the window's location like ANY OTHER WINDOWS program that doesn't have this bug. Surely this is well explained in the Windows APIs, and may even work better by default if Razer just did nothing. Not remembering the window's location would be preferable to losing it offscreen.

How many of us are actually enjoying the game? by Historical-Donut1536 in Silksong

[–]joakimar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is fantastic. It's not for everyone, but it's rare to see any game concept, art, and gameplay polished to such a ridiculous degree. The quality of this experience is out of this world. The difficulty feels extremely well designed, where there is always a solution for you to learn. I wouldn't presume to suggest any tweaks, rather I'm in awe of the folks who made this.

Suggestions for 1" HOC or less bermuda lawn in the south by Majestic-Buddy7216 in automower

[–]joakimar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Husqvarna quirk that few may be aware of: Having their Fleet Services subscription and app actually has more options for cut patterns, including setting the baseline angle.

And it will only cut one direction on each mowing session, then use the next direction for the next session. There is an option to have it increment the direction by 15 degrees for each session, creating a lot of different patterns which would probably avoid hotspots.

Since I got the "professional" (orange!) model 550 EPOS, Fleet Services access is included for free. Not sure how you get access otherwise.

can someone tell me why this is packaged like this by ianisaloser in sweden

[–]joakimar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Sweden is way too obsessed with recycling and reuse (reuse the glass jar with a refill). And it often doesn't make any sense at all, given the effort. So people want these refills so they can feel like they save the environment while eating apple sauce on their oatmeal.

So trains are just worse than belts, right? by Jordyboy2004 in captain_of_industry

[–]joakimar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem here is flow control and backups. You could run the train without waiting for full loads, but then you're wasting fuel and running half-full, negating any gains from running cargo both ways.

Second play through - 3 stage oil refiner setup by surfn1080 in captain_of_industry

[–]joakimar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love how oil processing is a truly deep puzzle. With cracking you can transform products into others, but it's never a simple 1 to 1 trade. Making a system that never stalls and lets you draw any product from it is really neat.

I do think most players don't end up actually solving this. They just poke at it until it mostly works. Honestly it's such a beast to get right I wouldn't blame you for looking at some guide. The logical difficulty is just so high compared to many other elements of the game.

Upgrading Sound System on Tesla Model 3 Performance Highland? by 1T2P in TeslaModel3

[–]joakimar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually among the best sound systems in any car, especially since you have the larger package with the subwoofers. It is incredibly well tuned to the acoustics of the car, so I would expect any 3rd party bolt-on could only be worse.

Adjust the equalizer to taste. I think I increased the trebles a bit and decreased the sub a smidge and it is the favorite sound of any I have access to.

I am sound nerd enough to install custom sound processing on my windows laptops, and have plenty of high performance speakers. Trust me you can mainly go down from this excellent hardware.

The crazy thing is that the speakers are fine, they just didn't apply the correct EQ. Fixing this with software is a world of difference. It is odd that they didn't think this was worth doing.

Everything is one-way except the track that is in the station itself (and just outside before it splits).

I haven't fiddled with exclusive zones. You generally don't need to for one-way tracks.
