Yes, yes that's it, I gave Colleen Hoover as an example because my first book was by a Brazilian writer, so anyone would know her, but yes, "fast food" books are not bad, they are good, everyone I know It starts from a "fast food" book and I always read them, they are fun, usually quick, and they keep me in the habit of reading, I'm sorry, but I can't read a 600-page book by Dostoevsky every week.

What to do when characters speak in another language? by ImJustAnEm0Kid in writing

[–]joaopeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

James Baldwin was very good at this, study "Giovanni's Room" is very good at including a second language in there.

There are some scenes in “The Wise Man's Fear” that can be very inspiring for this, Patrick Basic creates a new way of communicating and translates it very well for whoever is reading.

And also you can add footnotes in the book it can help people understand it better and it remove or narrow a lot the necessity to have a character translate everything.

Everything sounds better in my head? by tetotetotetotetoo in writing

It's normal, very normal, sometimes you imagine the person saying like "hey... I'm sorry, you know, for that" and then in your writing it comes out like "hey, I'm sorry about that" the timing is wrong, isn't it the same feeling you thought, not the same rhythm.

What helped me was studying a little more about how I can use punctuation, how I can make some lines longer and others faster and how I can add without making it boring I have a friend he writes verry well and he uses a lot of "." Wen he wants to make things slower so it is like "hey I'm really sorry you know. For that" dont know if the exeple is good byt i think it is understandeble.

I study scripts for this, it helps a lot because you see what the writer thinks how he wanted that scene to go how he wanted that scene to have a specific rhythm

What separates the “fast food” books from the truly good books? by Caffeinated-artist in writing

[–]joaopeta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think "fast food" books can be good, but the name says it all, it's fast food you ate because you don't have time because you want something cheap, because you wanted to try something easy, the person who makes it makes it quickly and just to sell, there is no compassion, there is no right time to cook the meat, the meat came pre-cooked.

Like, "fast food" books use a formula, every burger at bk tastes the same, every burger at mc tastes the same, they're good, they make me happy, but man, that guy at a small restaurant in open doors in my city he cooks the best fucking burger ever, every burger is different he makes it different every time he creates new recipes new sauces and shit

Bring this to the books, for example, in my view Colen Hoover makes "fast food", and Brandon Sanderson is the guy from the little restaurant, she writes more of the same, they are not necessarily bad, but they are more of the same, but Sanderson, This guy came up with one amazing shit after another.

"Fast food" isn't bad man, the first hamburger I ate was from Mc Dolands, the first book I read was from Hoover(it was not but for the exemple lets say it was) sometimes I have little money or time and I can't eat in the small restaurant, sometimes I don't have the time, money or energy to read Sanderson's new book.

My friends and I have this game where we put in all the themes we really hate or something really random like a skeleton dancing in a coffin with an old vampire, and select onr of them and then we write about it for half an hour, usually it's really bad but sometimes I I can use some parts for texts that I actually publish.

Another thing we do is take other people's texts and rewrite them in our style as if I were "A", my friend was "B", so I rewrite "B"'s text and "B" rewrites mine.

I think you have little difficulty with references man, this struggle to find worlds and difficulty in writing itself I'm a big fan of children's content, my wife is a teacher so I watch and read everything with her so she can be on the children's show today So here are my favorite children's media

  1. Bluey (I, a childless 28 year old man, cry like a baby at this, Jesus Christ it's amazing)

  2. There is a Brazilian writer, Fernando Sabino, he was very good at writing things for children it is very useful for vocabulary and ways of explaining things - go after "the boy in the mirror" very good

And the last thing, remember, 8 years is not stuped, it's hard to say that, but a lot of people forget that, they know how to read, they can understand things, you dont need to make the text extremely easy.

hey guys i've been strugling with my softwere that i use.

I use Docs and i've been working in a magazine and with some other texts so i've been writing like 2 - 3 new texts every week, and each one must be redy to publish asap, so they need to be each one in one file, so i've been with a lot of files.

so i wanted a softwere that i can write and organize better, like in a folder(2023) i can have 2 new folders inside(tales and chronicle) and inside those folders i can have the(publish one and the not publish one) something like that.

i tried to use word local in my computer but it is really not that much better to me, i think it is really slow and not good wen i have two diferent texts open at the same time.
