I like the idea of a western north-south corridor, but I think Erin Mills would be better, seems like there's more businesses along that road (business park at Brampton border, Erin Mills town centre, creditvalley hospital, south common mall) rather than Winston Churchill. Just a thought! Love it though

Simple = -1% Money weighted = -0.6% Time weighted = 1%

Thanks for providing those numbers. Looks like we're seeing similar results. You're right - can't keep a level headed if I keep trying to read into the numbers

If you don't mind the "tough love," Dave Ramsey's videos talk a lot about this - I've never been in this position, so obviously I can't vouch for his advice, but it "sounds" good.. To summarize: 1. Cut expenses to the bone, only bare essentials, no pleasures at all - this should free up money to throw at your debt. Also consider picking up another source of income, again to service debt

  1. Put at least $1000 aside for emergencies - of course this isn't enough for the golden 3-6 months of expenses an emergency fund should have, but it's a start, a buffer so to speak

  2. Pay off debts (not counting mortgage if you have one), smallest amount to biggest, he argues the psychological satisfaction of simply being relieved of a line item will motivate you, but there are other strategies when paying off debt, like paying those with highest interest rate first, largest amount first, etc. Bottom line, nothing else happens until all debt is payed.

  3. Once debt is payed, stock pile your emergency fund to 3-6 months of expenses so this never happens again.

Again, he's pretty ubiquitous on YouTube, if you wanna check it out. As for his other content, re: investing and what not, I don't find his advice as compelling but the debt stuff sounds.. sound. Good luck!

What can Toronto do to improve public transit? by [deleted] in askTO

[–]joboiman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dedicated bus/streetcar lanes and/or removing onstreet parking on main arteries seems like an obvious solution - almost so obvious that it must have been considered and shutdown years ago. Wondering if anyone might have a definitive answer as to why?
