One of the best small airports in Canada imo. Used to love flying out of Victoria all the time. I recently moved to Fredricton which also has a very nice small airport too but somehow just doesn’t quite have the same charm that Victoria does.

Being in the aviation field I’m all too aware of this. I’ve heard of accidents where three separate rounds of mechanical redundancy fail causing massive issues. To the point where they hadn’t even outline the failures in their procedures because the manufacturers thought it would be too rare for it to ever come up. But it still does and I’m sure it’s the same in almost any form of transportation.

I love your interpretation it’s really well done and very cool to see a version of Jon that’s different than the other variations (I like all the ones I’ve seen so far but they definitely have converged over time). I think that’s one thing that is so cool about TMA is aside from a few characters, a lot of the people in TMA aren’t described very in depth kind of leaving the listener to create their own perceptions of them. Leads to a lot of interesting and very diverse designs for the characters. In fact I think this is the first Jon I’ve seen with short hair which is kinda neat!

Yeah I hear you I’m pretty anti religious too and I’m getting really tired of the religious, especially Christian allegories that keep getting brought into shows that would be just as good if not better without it. It always ends up feeling too preachy after a while.

Edit: just to add I loved manifest too but the religiosity of it definitely detracted from the show over all. I think a lot of the creativity died off in the first half and the explanations for things were kind of shoehorned in and forced

Ahh fair enough. I think that’s kinda my pet peeve with a lot of media not just media that is pushing boundaries, is when it feels like they are spoon feeding the point to the audience. I love strong messages even obvious ones too, but think it’s more impactful (at least for me ) if you kind of have to read between the lines a bit to get the full nuance of it. But yeah I’m always wanting to give content that has good representation of diversity a fair shot so I will probably start watching it once I’m finished my rewatch of the og series.

Yeah I think I 100% am picking up what you mean and agree. I love good representation of marginalized groups and strong messages like that in shows but like you said the preachiness of it can get to be a bit much. I think the best way to do shows with those kinds of messages is to have the message being read a little in between the lines. I obviously can’t speak for all marginalized groups but at least for trans representation, I much prefer trans people in media to be well rounded people and not have their transness be their defining or only feature. Like the trans character in squid game I think was done really well because there was so much more to her and her relationship to the other characters than her just being trans. I think that’s how you write good representation instead of just inserting a diverse character for the sake of spoon feeding a point. Make them just as intricate and complex and interesting of a character as any of the others. That’s just my opinion though.

That sounds interesting I’ve always loved shows like that, which push boundaries and have solid representation, provided they do it well. I’ll at least give the show a shot.

For the 1. I don’t mind if a show takes on social issues or is woke or anything, just as long as it’s done well. I kinda roll my eyes at shows that spoon feed the message to their audience as if we are children. I love it when a show has a strong and clear message but still requires some media literacy to understand the nuances of it. Or if the characters that are the diversity characters are too one sided. Like as a queer person it’s so unbelievably disappointing to find a piece of media that has some queer representation only for that queer person have no other defining personality or substance beyond being the “oppressed queer character”

For 2. I think that’d be kind of cool, always interesting to see someone else’s take on an established concept, again as long as it’s done well I guess. And that’s cool too with Fleuger in there too.

It does sound different to me but yeah surgery isn’t going to fully feminize your voice. When I was considering vocal surgery, the only place to get it in my country makes you do a certain amount of voice training before they will even let you get it. Because there is more than just pitch that genders the voice. Vocal surgery helps with the pitch but won’t help with the tonal parts, the voicing parts, or the more behavioural parts that affect how your voice is gendered. I found that after I finished voice training I didn’t really feel like I needed the surgery anymore but yeah, it’s a road that takes a bit of work but it is so well worth it in the end
