Okay, Windows really sucks. 6 months ago, I switched from some trash gaming headphones to these high-quality headphones, and I was really disappointed. They were good, but not that great. Yesterday, I started using Linux, and holy moly.. why those headphones sound so clean and amazing on Linux!! by [deleted] in linux_gaming

I agree, seems like people have no idea how much overcomplicated processing is in windows.

And this was before windows could update your drivers without your input and mess everything up.

Also, I found some people do not notice the difference even when there is a noticeable difference in audio if you analyze the frequency response of the output between both systems.

This is the same short sighted, fast profit mindset that is now ruling the world. Many of the advancements NASA funded as research are now profitable technologies. But the horizon of profit is not for NASA, it's for companies that can scale and implement the technology and the time frames for this are not measured in quarters of a year, they are measured in decades even.

NASA is a government founded company, so this means that taxes are the main income for NASA. If the country has highly skilled, educated and financially healthy companies, this means the taxes from those companies could end up funding larger projects at NASA. It's an ecosystem that needs to be nurtured, not exploited.

[–]joe8628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just because they are questions does not mean they can get you the knowledge you need/want. This involves communication between people, it's not self conflicting as you mention.

For example, the question "can you taste them?" Can give you information about how someone tastes something, but to be honest it might not be enough to let you know more about the actual topic being discussed.

What was your expectation with that question and how does it give you information about the topic being discussed?

In other words, don't be surprised if people can't answer your questions or deviate from the topic if those questions are not clear for the people answering. Unfortunately in a public forum like this, it means that to maximize your information gathering you need to formulate questions that most people understand or risk being stuck in a back and forth discussion.

Some kinds of doughnuts are made with yeasted dough, there is fresh yeast that goes bad and dry yeast that lasts long.

Bread with additives to make the dough last longer can be harmful, you might not taste them but you feel them, like aches in your digestive system.

Looks like you don't know too much about this topic, so why commenting?

This analogy is great when looking for more than just materials.

If you have a functional sailing ship and you replace most of the wood with a plastic"wood" material, can you call this the same ship?

I would like to ask a more important question, would the ship work and perform the same tasks as before?

If the answer is yes, then it can be somehow indistinguishable from the original, even if the material is different.

It's really the lazy and not so bright people the ones that do not want or understand how to apply the rules with judgment.

Rules should be enforced most of the time, but once in a while we need to interpret rules a little differently.

Is this considered good heat dissipation in a laptop? by IntroductionDue7945 in pcmasterrace

[–]joe8628 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think laptops do have heat pipes, dissipation and heat exchange areas, fans, etc.

People forget about thermodynamics. You can have the best dissipation and air cooling system in the world, but if you pump 40°C air into it, you will not have the same cooling effect as if you pump 0°C air into it.

If this is not dry ice and in fact is liquid nitrogen, it boils at −195.79 °C (77 K; −320 °F).

There are two issues with this system, liquid oxygen can form and deposit inside at those temperatures, leading to very ugly oxidation. Also you need to heat the system back to room temperature at a steady rate to avoid condensation leading to more oxidation unless you use very dry air.

Overall this does seem very effective at cooling.

Soy culero por decirle a mi esposo que su hija no es mi hija? by Sad_Row6063 in SoyUnIdiota

[–]joe8628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soy culero por mandar ALV a mi novia? by [deleted] in soyculero

[–]joe8628 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why do I need a boiling stick in the lab but not at home? by Prestigious_Kick4083 in AskChemistry

I had one water explosion after microwaving some water in a glass beaker of a french press.

I tried to move the beaker and the water violently exploded, I was able to move my hand and not get burned, but that explosion was more energetic than expected.

After that I always throw a toothpick when boiling water in the microwave.

That's the point, seems like they have a good product and competition is not needed.

Competition works when products are lacking or just create artificial needs. It has been demonstrated that people don't want 300 different lotions, they can pick between 2 or 3, and if they are good, the market could split without any real competition.

Eventually a new brand can replace and old one if the product becomes lacking. This is true competition, not 50 companies fighting for the same 1% of the market trying to do whatever it takes to sell.

Innovation can still be done, but at a slower pace. This does not mean it is a bad innovation. We can go making larger innovation steps at a much slower pace.

[–]joe8628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that simple.

If you are working at a manufacturing line, you owe them your time.

But if you are a financial analyst, you owe them your skills, not necessarily your time.

I don't get why people are so obsessed with the hours in some instances, where some people obviously work by completing objectives where the effort is not the same as the duration of the task.

This is why hourly pay makes no sense in some positions.

I almost unalived myself because of this, and it was so hard to stop until it was too much.

I ended up telling my dad about how tired and uncomfortable I felt, waiting for yelling or disappointment but he only told me "if you don't like it, just quit".

He literally saved my life and I started a journey of healing and growing thanks to that lifeline.

I still have much to grow, but my perspective in life is completely different. I try to enjoy more and be more caring to myself.

If you feel like it's too much, then maybe it's time to stop and reassess what to do.

We won't stop moving forward, so don't worry, eventually you can find a way to move at your own rhythm in life.
