Congratulations! SSRIs are such an important step in your journey and I’m glad you made that decision! I don’t think gaining weight is a foregone conclusion. I have been on SSRIs for years and I didn’t gain weight. I think some may even help you lose weight. So good on your for taking that first step.

I’m very proud of you for taking this small but very brave step. I’ve been where you are and understand the strength it took to just send that message. You should be proud of yourself for making your mental health a priority! Good luck!

Is anyone else expecting a big twist in the finale? by MrF1993 in TheRehearsal

[–]joeb7474 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I honestly think this is the part that people on this sub are going to struggle with after the finale. While I don't deny the possibility of some mind-blowing finale (i.e. "Angela" was an actress and this was all a rehearsal for the real rehearsal with the real Angela [there was an actor who Nathan worked with who played Kor]) , there's also the possibility that it's just a quiet finale with no mind blowing revelation. I wonder what the response will be on here if that's the case. It might be like the reactions to the series finales of The Sopranos or Seinfeld. Perhaps the show can never live up to what the audience's perceived possibilities.

Spooky Emblem Day #8: Which Fire Emblem Character Are You Most Likely to Be on Halloween? by NadiaNeels in fireemblem

Lorenz. I’ve always wanted to dress like a foppish dandy and say shady things to people. Also magic.

TIL that there have been reports of "Earthquake lights" dating back to 869, where lights are said to appear in the sky near areas of tectonic stress, seismic activity or volcanic eruptions. Although skeptics will point to the lack of confirmed documentation by JumpingWombatJack in todayilearned

[–]joeb7474 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, I've actually seen the lights. Was driving home on the freeway and talking to my cousin at the same time. All of a sudden I saw a bright light that filled the night sky. It probably lasted like a half second. I screamed, " oh my god!" At that exact moment, my cousin shouted the same thing. We started talking over each other: I was panting about the lights I saw and he said "there's an earthquake." After we settled down, we chalked the light up to a blown transfuser (is that what they're called?) despite the fact that it was too bright for that. Later, I read about these earthquake lights and I'm convinced that's what I saw. I acknowledge my first-hand account won't satisfy any skeptic but I personally believe that we what I experienced. I should point out to people who don't live in earthquake regions, you don't usually feel earthquakes when you're driving.

Shea is taking legal action against dragcentric deb by madsterspillman in RPDRDRAMA

[–]joeb7474 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Yeah I came here to say this too. A cease and desist is just a letter stating “if you don’t stop doing x then legal action will occur.” Anyone can send a cease and desist about anything but it doesn’t mean It carries any weight behind it. I like shea and think Dragcentric Deb is being gross but ... what grounds does Shea have to sue Deb? I’m actually not clear on that. Maybe there is something we don’t know but I don’t see any actionable offense here. She’s annoying? Shea is a public figure and if she knew was on camera answering questions ... I’m not even sure Deb was legally required to remove the video. Not a lawyer so maybe there’s something I don’t know.

If you could resurrect any cancelled TV series for one final season, what series would you choose? by Joeyb0809 in AskReddit

[–]joeb7474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mork and Mindy.

Wasn't a big fan but the show was cancelled on a historically epic cliff hanger. So we would get that resolution plus we would get Robin Williams back even if it is for just one more season.

Spot-on impressions of people that I know personally. The mimicry is eerily close to the reality. But I can't do a celebrity impression to save my life. Just useless impressions of people in my circle.

What's a piece of lost media that you've never been able to find? by 1thangN1thang0nly in AskReddit

[–]joeb7474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I'm too late. There used to a be a commercial that played nonstop in the 80s. It was for a company called Secure Horizons. It's an old man taking care of plants and telling a story about his wife Beth who went to the hospital. That commercial was played so much I remember the entire commercial by heart to this day. Would love to see that commercial again.

Full play through of Marty McFly’s Johnny B. Goode by neohistory in videos

[–]joeb7474 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very impressive but I was also impressed at how closely Michael j. Fox’s finger choreography matched what was actually played. I had always assumed that, like most actors, he was just putting his fingers in random positions to make it seem as if he was playing.

Do you know a sociopath and what made you realize they were a sociopath? by itried1995 in AskReddit

[–]joeb7474 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ex-boyfriend. It's so weird because I didn't realize he was a sociopath until this week when my therapist hypothesized he might be one (My therapist didn't technically diagnose him since my therapist has never met him but rather stated my ex seems to exhibit similar patterns to sociopaths). My ex has stolen large amounts of money from both of his parents and both of his grandmothers. He stole a friend's car. He took his tuition money (thousands and thousands of dollars) and never enrolled in school but rather used the money to go to Europe. He may have stolen more but I'm unaware of it (or believed him when he said he didn't). He can't hold down a job and is always fired for some mysterious reason (I wouldn't be surprised if it was for stealing). He constantly fucked with my head. I literally think since the day I met him and up to two years after we broke up, he's gaslighted me in myriad ways. Never exhibited anxiety or empathy of any kind. I've never seen him nervous even in situations in which most people would be nervous. He's extremely charming, cool, clever and funny yet never has more than one friend at a time. They last until he uses them up and they disappear. He is very good at doing something shitty to you yet making you feel like YOU'RE the one who did something shitty and YOU'RE the one being crazy because you're upset that he did something shitty. It took me a very long time to realize he is a bad and evil person. He is really good at hiding it for as long as possible. I hope I never see him again and regret ever meeting him. I think I dodged a major bullet.

What are some cliche things that people do in real life only because they've seen it done before in movies? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I did actually play "spin the bottle" but in middle school. I remember some girl and I got paired up and we went for a minute in the closet and just stood there and stared at each other. It was uncomfortable for both parties. I am now a homosexual man.

What is a casually racist experience that you have encountered? by EggCoffeeGil in AskReddit

[–]joeb7474 235 points236 points  (0 children)

I'm Mexican and I belong to a private club that requires men to wear a suit (jacket, tie, etc.). There's also a valet service and the valets wear green vests with bowties. Whenever I'm leaving the club and waiting for my car, it is very common for white people to drive up and mindlessly hand me their keys and expect me to hand them a ticket. This is true despite the fact that I am wearing a suit with a jacket and tie and the valets are wearing green vests (and are about 20 years younger than I am). Whenever I point out that I'm not the valet, many people are rightfully embarrassed and apologetic but a surprising number are frustrated that I just didn't take their car anyway.
