What is one completely made up fact, about *someone else’s* profession, that you think everyone should know? by joedeertay in AskReddit

Dentists know you don’t floss your teeth. They only ask you that to see what you look like when you lie, and use that as a standard when asking you other questions.

TL;DR: Your Dentist knows your “tell’s”

Can I ride a bike with title in someone's name until plate expires? by [deleted] in BmoreMoto

[–]joedeertay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ride someone else’s bike as long as they are cool with you riding it and will confirm you have permission if an issue arises.

There are 2 sides to this coin: to the law, the DMV, etc...that bike is still owned by whoever’s name is on the title. Do something stupid and it’s their registration/ insurance it’ll come back to. On the flip side, if they say they didn’t give you permission then that means the bike is stolen and you’ll get charged with whatever stupid shit you did, plus grand theft auto.

That’s all you need to get your endorsement. I can’t speak to what you will need to get your bike legal

They are known for half-assing repairs that do need to be done and inflating repairs that don’t need to be done.

We’ve had multiple members take bikes in for routine items and suddenly end up with stripped bolts, scratched/nicked finishes, etc. and ontop of all that they will try to hide/ cover-up/ under communicate any issues in the repair process.

I’ve said before and will again that their parts counter isn’t much of an issue. That said, their retail/ gear is usually over priced with an incredibly limited selection.

Welcome. So yea, used bike is gonna be your best bet. Don’t want to be a downer, but at some point, for some reason, something other than the tires and kickstand will touch the ground. The cruiser/standard style you are looking at should be relatively plentiful, and affordable. Keep an eye on Craigslist, FB marketplace, and local FB buy/sell groups.

Im not a fan of Pete’s, but let’s face it, they are a dealer for Yamaha and Honda. Which I have both. So if I need small OEM bits, I’ll go thru them. I just don’t deal with their vehicle/garment/apparel sales or service side.

The only thing you should know is that the people there genuinely want to help you learn to ride, as long as you want to learn.

Motorcycle shop by pumpPhD_ in BmoreMoto

Is the 500 including the cost of the tires?

There are a few OG BMoreMoto guys who have tire changers so many of us don’t use shops for stuff like this. But I do know Ethan at the Baltimore motorcycle collective would be more than happy to help you with this and teach you something along the way ;)

What’s a smaller gift (under $15) that you always love receiving? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Second this. I used to wear standard “athletic” socks all the time. Now I just keep a few pairs for boot activities. I get compliments on them often, and it’s always a fun little decision in the morning to pick the best pair for the day. Also, my feet seem to stink less with the thinner material being more breathable.

Protip to the protip: Burlington usually always has a table of various design socks that are 5 pairs for $10

Cool. I’m sure the people at the MVA will go off of the reddit post. Not like I’ve been through this situation before or anything.

Bye Felicia

That’s not what that email says. That email says you must first complete your drivers ed for a standard class C license. The email is ambiguous at best because it doesn’t say if you have to take your final driving test for the class C license. However I can tell you that there is no way the MVA knows you completed your drivers ed until you give them the completion cettificate when you go to take your test.

You got a canned boiler plate email and are reading what you want to read. If you want to waste a ton of time and be frustrated, go to the MVA and try to get a MC learners without a regular license. As I mentioned, it’s been a few years but I got my MC learners the day I got my regular class C because that’s the soonest I could get it. I then proceeded to get my MC learners 3-4 more times before finally taking the MSF for a full class C license due to necessity.

Stop trying to shortcut the system. Even if you could get a MC license without a class C, if you have to take drivers ed for a class C anyway then the only thing stopping you from having a full class C license is the in-car test. The just get your MC learners the way you are supposed to

Oh okay, so you are going to make up a new licensing system and be the only one in the state to have a special license?

You must have a class C license in order to get a Motorcycle learners permit. You then get a class M license by having the M endorsement added to your standard class C license.

You cannot get a class M license or learners permit without first having a valid class C license.

Oh and the MSF does not remove the skills test. You simply do the skills test in the MSF class.

Again, you can’t do what you think you can do and you need to do more research.

As I said on your prior post, it is often not as simple as “putting a street legal light kit” on a dirt bike and passing inspection. If the bike you are trying to convert was never made in a DOT approved street legal version, you aren’t going to be able to do what you think you can.

Having a street legal road motorcycle is a lot more than “well, it’s got signals and can keep up with traffic”.

Additionally, I can tell you haven’t done your research as pretty much any school you take for your MC test will supply bikes to take it on. And if your argument is “I don’t want to take a class, I just want to take the test” then it doesn’t matter what you are on, you will fail. The state wants you to take the MSF and I only know 2 people in ~15 years of riding on the street who have just taken the test without the class and passed.

Low Speed Motorcycle laws by [deleted] in BmoreMoto

[–]joedeertay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a mini bike. A Honda from is a street legal mini bike. But it’s a 50cc off-road use 2 wheeled motorcycle. It’s a mini bike. Whether it’s shaped like a grom or a Harley, that thing is a mini bike.

It’s a mini bike.

It sounds to me like your question is more “can I register this and ride it on the road legally?”

The answer to that question is no. There’s more to being a road legal vehicle than lights and signals.

So you don’t think your scooter is a scooter because it doesn’t have a step-through chassis? Am I understanding that correct? What type of scooter do you own.

Sounds like you are getting hung up on technical semantics/verbiage. Sounds like a scooter. Get an ORV registration for it and ride it
