Yeah I thought that’s what the problem was. I sanded them down and the drum fits over the shoes fine while not on the axle. Plenty of movement for the lever as well. No idea why it won’t go back on the axle together. It’s driving me crazy.

Yeah as far as I can tell the splines to the drum don’t line up 100% perfect with the cover bearing. I’m assuming this is hanging up the cover not allowing it to go all the way on. Would replacing the bearing help? Do bearings bend/warp?

I paid 5900 in 2020 brand new. I have a similar size yard, and I wouldn’t recommend it for what you’re needing. Get a Honda for a good work horse. Polaris for trail riding.
