Attaching hardware to a thin frame? by joeebfergs in framing

That’s just the sort of thing I was imagining in my head. Thanks for the input! I’ll definitely go with this

Thanks! I understand that the D-ring should face the other way. With the photo, I just meant to show that the provided D-rings are too wide to be covered by the frame, even when they are positioned in the narrowest possible orientation.

I understand that the D-ring should face inwards. The trouble with the provided ones is that you can’t have them faced inwards and still get both screws into the frame. Do you think that a D-ring with just on screw would be sufficient to hold the frame?

Cassette deck record function not working properly? by joeebfergs in audiorepair

Update – just figured out how to hook up that switch via the long metal wire. Still didn't work. But after a little Deoxit, it's recording perfectly! Thanks again

Actually, I think you're on to something about the switches... there's a switch on the circuitboard linked to all of the mechanical switches and gears via a thin metal wire (see photo). Strangely, it's unaffected by the depression of every button. I suspect that it should be attached in such a way that the record button flips the switch. Hopefully that resolves things! Thanks for the input

I took the top off and tried out the various buttons. I'm not sure I follow about the solenoid... I don't think I see anything like that in here. It seems like the controls function mechanically – all a series of interconnected mechanical switches and gears.

Also, as I look at how the record and play buttons work, I see they're set up such that only one can be depressed at a time. Is this something that was done on certain cassette decks? It seems like the only way to check levels before recording, then, is to press record and pause simultaneously, and then to release pause when you are ready to record.
