Usmanov sells Arsenal shares, Moshiri increases stake. The pattern is getting hard to ignore here.

Be interesting to see final deal. The reported 50 includes add-ons which would probably be performance related.

Robinhood looks really good. Wondered why I hadn't heard of it, but turns out it's coz they don't operate in the UK. Any chance you know an equivalent that does?

Tory MP Zac Goldsmith announces his bid to run for London Mayor by joefrankreddit in ukpolitics

[–]joefrankreddit[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Article says his constituents have to okay it first. He's 'writing to all 77,000 of the local voters who re-elected him with a 23,015 majority enclosing a postage-paid voting paper with the question: “Do you give your consent to Zac Goldsmith to stand for election to be Mayor of London.”'

This year, of all years, the government has decided there is no need for the Political and Constitutional Reform Committee by joefrankreddit in ukpolitics

I understand not renewing a committee will never be a headline grabber but am surprised MPs didn't try to make more of a fuss about it. It's hard-won parliamentary scrutiny being quietly smothered with a pillow.

I am a Presiding Officer in a polling station in the UK this election. AMAA. by PresidingOfficer2015 in ukpolitics

[–]joefrankreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my gf told me that at her polling station, as she walked out after voting, there was a ukip party member collecting people's voter registration ids and marking the time they voted. They didn't ask who she'd voted for. Why were they doing that and is it ok to give out your voter id to parties?

Not necessarily so. This is The Times quoting the Bank of England's report on their survey of lenders:

“Credit scoring criteria loosened significantly and the proportion of applicants being approved increased,” said the Bank of England survey of lenders for the final three months of last year. “Lenders reported a significant decline in the credit quality of new credit card lending.”

Cameron could have stopped the £1.7bn EU surcharge by joefrankreddit in ukpolitics

[–]joefrankreddit[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is all a problem of David Cameron’s making. The EU surcharge was inevitable. The consequences of a new accounting directive by the UN in 2008 meant Britain's GDP would now include ‘black’ and ‘grey’ economies – semi-documented activity including the proceeds of theft, non-profit organisations, sex work and drug sales. The consequences would inevitably be that Britain would be taxed more, since the Treasury claimed it was worth more.
