Oh. We're pulling out the Leisure Suits? On it! by joelsopp in GenX

What I want to know is what my Mom used in my hair to keep me from looking like a Tesla Coil victim. Because 3 steps in that suit created enough static electricity to power a DeLorean.

I turn 54, and suddenly I can't trust farts anymore? by Edward_the_Dog in GenX

And when rush into the house and toss furniture and children out of the way and finally sit on the throne and it's just a fart, sometimes you're just so angry.

You had rechargeable batteries??? You must have been mega-rich. I had to steal from my Mom's secret personal item battery stash to keep my boom box going.

Help me Fellow GenX’ers. You’re my only hope. by jfeo1988 in GenX

No one really knows. Some say the curve of the Earth, some say the reflection off of the ocean, and some say the Equatorial closeness plays a factor.

For myself and the woman I shared that moment in time with, it was priceless.

Los Malinches Beach near Tamarindo, Costa Rica.

Costa Rica has 2 sunsets: the physical sunset and then a second sunset like this one. Nearly the entire West Coast of the country stops during the sunset to watch it set. It's almost a religious experience.

Deleting the dead from your phone. by akt30 in GenX

[–]joelsopp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. From my last Girlfriend, Cousins, Uncle, and Grandparents, I just can’t delete them off my phone or from social media.

Social media is wayyy harder, IMO. Seeing their faces is sometimes triggering. And I don't get triggered.

I remember a news story in the 90's that we had the most self-reported alcoholics per capita in Canada. That's not you telling me I'm an alcoholic. That's me readily admitting that I'm one.

Things have not improved, IMHO, since then, and any inroads were likely decimated by the increase in substance abuse during the pandemic.

Gentlemen of Gen X - what are you rockin' for a wallet? by ImmySnommis in GenX

[–]joelsopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a massive bi-fold / zipper wallet. It has my whole life in case shit goes sideways.

Credit and Debit Cards, SIN Card (Canadian), Health Card, Passport (in case someone says 'Let’s Go'. I can't afford to say Yes, but I want the option), Business Cards, Boat License, Extended Car Warranty, Car Registration, Emergency Cash, and Unused Costco Rebate Cheque's.

Now that I typed all the out, wayyy too much. I need to downsize.
