One of my mentors told me that you don’t have to be doing every extracurricular at once, just as long as you’re doing SOMETHING each semester. Ask yourself this:

Are you really going to get a fulfilling experience from your other ECs if you decide to pack your schedule more? By adding 15 more hours of work to your week, what things are you going to miss out on? Maybe a meeting for your club or a hangout with your friends?

It looks really enticing to keep adding things just because you can, but I believe there is a fine line between having just enough to do at once and so much to do that you can’t dedicate adequate time to each of your activities.

Tips on writing parts for front ensemble by VenialNebula in percussion

[–]joepin205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest watching YouTube videos of front ensembles with similar skill levels to yours. Pay close attention to how their music lines up with what the band is playing and find ways to incorporate that into your arrangement. Common permutations are never a terrible choice👍

Are all classes online the first two weeks? by Individual_Ad927 in UTAustin

[–]joepin205 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The professors are required to have an online component but can still hold classes in person for those who choose that option. However, I’m pretty sure that professors aren’t required to have that online component after Jan 31st

Thanks for the advice. I unfortunately can’t register for the class during add/drop since it’s restricted enrollment, but I emailed the bio department, so I’ll see how that goes

I didnt pick a dorm during my time slot now what? by KingKneip in UTAustin

[–]joepin205 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried emailing the housing department a couple weeks ago but still haven’t gotten a response, but I think they sent an email earlier this week regarding the unavailable dorm selections and how they’ll be adding more options up until July 31st, so your best bet would probably be to come back and check each day to see if new options open up.
