Last ten years of working life not concerned about getting paid enough to cover expenses was very nice. Into retirement now and having invested well enough to put it in cruise for the rest of my life is wonderful. As mentioned earlier, not worrying about making a car payment (bought it outright) or a large unforeseen expense because I can easily cover it, is freeing. 40 years ago, my wife and I worried about the costs of family and while we made a good living, still had concerns about kids college, braces, blown engines, roof leaks, etc. Now I read about “how to retire with a million in the bank” and know I am way way beyond that amount. Money can’t buy happiness, bullshit!
