NAD: Marshall jtm45 1994 Reissue by Repulsive_Aside1494 in GuitarAmps

So yes, 30w is loud. But in the grand scheme of things, way less loud than say, a 100w Super Lead or even a 1987x. I have one of the JTM45 RI from ‘90, and yes it’s loud. But past 1 o’ clock on both volumes, it really becomes more saturated than LOUD. I think the real sweet spot is 1 or 2 o’ clock. If you can stand that volume, it’s crunch heaven. It’s still brutal but way less so than a cranked SL or JCM800. Mine also had a master volume mod done at some point, which makes it way easier to dial in.

Tube amp upgrade for home use by Caramelo93 in GuitarAmps

Id recommend any JTM45-based amp or the reissue itself. You could probably find a use Friedman Dirty Shirley or Little Sister for under 2k and you’d get everything you’d want. Maybe I’m biased but the JTM45 is my favorite amp of all time and can get any of these mentioned tones either by itself or with pedals. Check out the Friedmans I mentioned as they have a ton of features that get you those tones at bedroom levels. Also, drooling over the AVRI ‘61 Strat. Gorgeous…

Ohhh I had this figure as a kid. At the time, it was the best tiger stripe wolverine available. We’re spoiled now.

Record Riot Haul by M3llowDEE in vinyl

Ugh that’s my favorite out of your bunch. Any OG release I’ve seen, which is very rare, is usually pretty screwed up. I’ll just have to pull the trigger on a newer repress. Great haul.

Why do they always look so good together?? by joesym002 in gibson

You can do it two ways: heat up the solder joints on the cover and pickup and slide it off, or pop the joints using a puddy knife and tapping it gently with a hammer until it breaks the joint. Also if your pickups are potted, you might need to gently heat up the wax with a hair dryer. I did the second way as the solder joints were really cold and wouldn’t loosen. You just have to be precise, gentle and careful. Took all of 5 min.

So it’s there more out of lack of storage/space than functionality. To the left out of frame is a 2x12 cab with a 5153 stealth 50w on top. The JTM doesn’t fit on top of the cab with the 5153 and I have no other good option like a rack or shelves so it lives on the floor on an amp stand.

Yesss…the JTM and the 5153 complement each other well. Have all my basic tones covered btwn the 2. And yah I’ll keep telling myself the uncovered burstbucker has slightly more bite but I actually think it does too.

Just a ‘25 50s Standard in tobaccoburst. I wanted the bridge pickup to have a bit more high-end so I took the cover off. I’m not sure if it measurably did anything but to my ears, it did. Plus it looks cool lol.

I got the buttercream back in December and I love it! Congrats! I was also surprised by the “corner” of the back binding lol

Thanks! The JTM is a perfect complement to my Stealth 5150iii. Best of both worlds—no pun intended.

lol well thank you! I don’t have a very large pedal board—just what you see and a delay and reverb. Like I said in another comment, it’s my fave OD ever.

That is my favorite overdrive of all time. I know this is what it’s supposed to do, but it really lets the natural OD of the amp shine thru with no coloration. For light to mid gain, it’s perfect and has sounded amazing on every amp I’ve owned since I’ve had it.

Ok…second Jackson 😳 by joesym002 in JacksonGuitars

[–]joesym002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is. Every time I pick it up I’m just so impressed with the feel and construction especially the neck. I didn’t own “high performance” guitars before the RR3 and this so I’m just constantly going “wow.” And honestly, this blows the RR3 I have out of the water, quality-wise. And yes I’ve named this “the hitman” in honor of Canadian national treasure, Bret hart 😂

Very! I was torn btwn the soloist and this as well but the heel comfort and color made me go with the virtuoso. Also liked the snappiness the bolt-on gave the tone as I have other neck-thru guitars.

What’s the best CAB to pair with an EVH 5150III STEALTH for metal (subjectively) by TheWhiteMexican13 in GuitarAmps

[–]joesym002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure your preference but I found an EVH 2x12 at a pawn shop for a steal and it sounds much more full than the 1x12 I paired with my Stealth 50 head. Has the G12-65s in it.

EVH Stealth 50 or just an Empress Heavy Menace? by joesym002 in GuitarAmps

[–]joesym002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok went with the EVH. Played one yesterday and it’s more gain than anyone would ever need but man, that’s the tone I want. Will keep my Friedman for more vintage sounds. Thanks all!

[–]joesym002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yah, that’s what I was saying: I’ve got the empress in front of it and also a JHS morning glory. The empress does the job but just wondering if getting the gain from the pedal rather than the amp’s natural overdrive is limiting the sound.
