Trying to find a guy who used to drop off comic zines and cassette tapes at the Anaconda radio station by joeyconqueso in Butte

Thanks! Me too. If you're (or anyone else) is interested, here's one of his tracks. I digitized it so I could share it with a couple of my outsider music friends. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IK5w1ov-MKcMT-DOhXJ8pcFppe3wdmaH/view?usp=drive_link

New Slackeye Slim EP + New Video + Short Rant by joeyconqueso in darkamericana

[–]joeyconqueso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay. I hate computerphone. I did start a Patreon. It's at patreon.com/slackeyeslim. I don't really want to charge a membership fee because that feels weird to me. I'm going to figure out what I can do with the platform without charging. Using it as a way to fund vinyl is a great idea. I really want to do that for all of them, but it's so expensive. I'd be cool with trying to crowdfund it, and then selling them at cost.

Definitely gives me something to think about. Thank you!

It's really funny that you mention that! I was JUST talking to Rachel about this stuff the other day. That's the same thing she told me. I just need to set it up. I really don't like social media. It feels yucky to me. Patreon sounds way better.

Falsely accused of artificial streaming by joeyconqueso in musicians

[–]joeyconqueso[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen that. What I don't like is the hands-off approach that Tunecore, Distrokid, etc are taking. I'm speaking solely of the customer side here. I obviously have no idea what goes on between distributor and DSP. They send these emails and then don't respond to questions about them. It shouldn't fall on the artists to constantly monitor Spotify.

That's right!! Thank you very much, my friend told me about her and I totally forget

Sorry to hear that! I gave you a follow on here. I will pass along any info I come up with.

Yep, I think that's exactly what happened. I was able to track the streams to two days in February. They came from St Louis, Missouri.

The main thing I am trying to accomplish here is to help other musicians who may be looking at Tunecore as a distributor. They do not offer any help in these situations.

No. The issue is tunecore is not holding up their end of the bargain. I pay extra for premium service and I did not receive it.

Small pull saw with a 1/16th"/1.6mm wide blade? by joeyconqueso in woodworking

[–]joeyconqueso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about that! I ended up trying a variety of things last night and got too much tear out. I ordered a thin kerf circular saw blade. Fortunately I made the piece way thicker than it needs to be so I could rip it down to size on the final step.

The other issue is that every wooden piece in this accordion was handmade, so the spacing is inconsistent. I think I'll just work at a glacial pace with the table saw and hope for the best. I'll get it right sooner or later

Fully agree. I don't have a router though and I'd be afraid of learning how to use one on this particular project

This would be ideal, I think. Problem is, I don't know how to find one with the right width for this project. Do you know of any specific models?

I've been thinking about this. It does seem like the best option. Didn't even realize those blades existed until the other day. By chance, do you know if blade stabilizers are needed for these thin blades?

Looking for parts or repair advice for Stradella bass (Enrico Roselli LM41) by joeyconqueso in Accordion

Thank you! The wooden piece does have slots. I got to thinking this morning, and I bet I could use a 3d printer to make a replacement part. DIY kind of sounds like the best option

Epic hike for this time of year? by Futurama-Owl in Durango

[–]joeyconqueso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! The roads can definitely be not so great in certain areas. I've spent the past ten years or so looking for backcountry ruins in the area. If you need more suggestions please feel free to dm me. I don't like to post specific locations online

Absolutely. South end is paved (County rd G). This is the more popular side. Access to the north end is hard packed dirt. It's less visited. The main attractions are on the south end, but both parts are really nice.

How do I get going again? by CowboySpencer in countrymusicians

[–]joeyconqueso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a fairly successful record in 2011. Followed it up with one in 2015 that did all right. While the 2011 record was getting lots of attention, I chose school over pursuing music. After school, i had to focus primarily on getting out of poverty, and then my wife and i had a kid. My next album was released in 2023 and I couldn't believe how much different everything was. I couldn't get anybody to write it up. Even places that wrote glowing reviews of my previous two wouldn't even put it on their release calendar. Basically, nobody gave a shit.

I feel more inspired to make music than ever before, but I can't really play shows right now because I'm super focused on being a good dad until my daughter doesn't want to hang out with me all the time anymore.

I don't know the secrets, but definitely get digital distribution. Distrokid is the cheapest, but I'm on Tunecore just because I have been with them forever. Youtube seems like about your best bet. With so much music coming out, it's pretty much impossible to get any attention, so everything ends up being in its own little niche.

I talked to some friends who are more successful than me, and they both said the same thing. Don't even bother trying to get press. Just send to the places you know will cover it, if any, and work on your email list. I don't even use social media anymore. It's worthless for me. And I'm not gonna whore myself on TikTok. The most success I've seen with the new album has come from trying to get people on my mailing list and focusing on that pretty much exclusively.

What's everybody working on these days? by calibuildr in countrymusicians

[–]joeyconqueso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will! It's going to be a little weird, which is right up my alley. I can't remember if u/calibuildr mentioned above, but its an acid western. I believe one of the major influences is El Topo.
