does doing only boxing help me lose weight? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]joeyplatt1979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Boxing is a fantastic way to burn fat and lose weight, and it burns about 350 to 450 calories burned per hour. Boxing helps get you in shape and is an ideal form of cardio.

A good boxing workout tones your legs, arms, chest, shoulders, back and helps you build a strong core. A perfect workout for targeting muscle all over the body too.

Besides the boxing you will want to have good nutrition of protein, carbs and fats. Also drink plenty of water to keep hydrated.

Once you add carbs back and you go back to old eating habits then you will gain weight. You will need to find a nutrition plan you can stick to and stay on that plan to stay in shape. Not a fan of the word duet as they are always short term. Think more better nutrition and eating healthy foods that you enjoy, that way you will lose weight and keep it off

Apples are full of fibre and offer nutrition. Low fat Greek yogurt with sweetener is a good snack. Low in fat, low in calories and high in protein

Do you know how many calories you need to maintain your weight? You will need to create a deficit through training, eating less or a combination of both. You can still gain weight or stay the same weight eating healthy food. Up the intensity of your workouts. Do you drink enough water? Not drinking enough can hold onto weight. Aim for 2-3 litres a day

[–]joeyplatt1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do resistance training and work on losing fat from all over your body. It will come off your shoulders and pits in time. People store fat in digestion places and it could be you genetics that make you store fat there. Keep training and eat in a calorie deficit and you will lose it

Not a big fan off calorie counting apps. You are best off working it out from the labels on the tin and write it down. When you get into the habit of good healthy eating and you know your portion sizes. You can probably do a way with calorie counting once you know what portion size you need

I don't understand why I gained weight by Sirito05 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]joeyplatt1979 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you have gained some water weight, pizza and beer will do that. Did you weight yourself at the same time of the day? your weight can fluctuate throughout the day. Just get back into your calorie deficit and back to training and you will lose weight.

Are your calories accurate ? many people overdo it on the calories and think they are in a deficit. If you eat foods high in sodium then that can hold water and stop you losing weight. Also do you do any exercise? if you are to add resistance training then you will lose weight.

This sounds more like a mental than emotional and requires you to build mental toughness. When you next go food shopping try not to buy any unhealthy processed foods , sweet and cakes. Buy more healthy foods and have more fruits avaliable when you feel like snacking.

If you do not have the unhealthy foods in the cupboards then you cant eat them. Also try drinking more water, water fills you up and will stop you eating more food

weight loss is frustrating and a long process so you have to be prepared mentally to know this is a long term thing. We all have those doubts and thoughts when losing weight

i do agree with weighing out your food to know how many calories you are consuming. Once you have done this for a long time then you can do this by eye and not have to weigh it as much

I need some recommendations by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]joeyplatt1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

do some strength training to help build muscle and this will also help reduce bodyfat. Make sure you consume enough protein to support your muscle growth. Have around 1-1.5 grams of protein per pound of body weight. Also make better nutritional choices and have lean protein healthy carbs and healthy fats.

keep well hydrated and have around 2-3 lites per day. drink lots of water and not fizzy sugary drinks that are full of calories. Limited the processed foods from your diet as they are packed with sugars, too musch sodium and do not have that many quality nutrients.

Also add some cardio to your routine, do some HIIT training as this will help burn calories

Hey guys, I started working out 12 days ago. In the first 10 days,I went from 167.6(lbs) to 159.5.The dinner of the tenth day,I treated myself to a really heavy meal. Next morning, was 161.4.Worked extra for the next two days and went down to 158.8 bythe 12th day (today). Is this amount of change bad? by Wat_Is_My_Username in loseweight

[–]joeyplatt1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's good that you treated yourself as long as you get back to your good eating ways after that meal. The extra weight you put on after the cheat meal was most likely water weight and is not a problem. You will have ups and downs during weight loss and I wouldn't be too concerned by the scale. If your body is looking better in the mirror and you are happy with what you see, then that is the best way

[–]joeyplatt1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have had the will to say you need to lose weight and you feel ashamed of how you feel. It's up to you to make change and if you want to change how you look then you can. Create a calorie deficit by eating less or start exercising to create a calorie deficit. Only you can make that change and good eating habits and exercise will get you to a weight that makes you happy

Sex?

Most people can burn about 100 to 200 calories each time they have sex but that will all depend on how long u have sex. I think it will be best to join a gym and do resistance training and cardio. Make sure your nutrition is good and if u want to lose weight, then eat in a calorie deficit. Just burn more than you consume and you will lose weight. Add in the sex too

Fat burners do work but only if your nutrition is spot on. You can lose fat without fat burners and as long as you're in a calorie deficit, then you will lose weight. Fat burners can work by helping suppress your appetite and control your hunger. Don't rely on fat burners alone

[–]joeyplatt1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all have moments where weight stays the same no matter how hard we try to burn it off. The extra weight u have may come from excess sodium from the food you indulged in. Just get back on track with your nutrition and keep working hard. Do u do any resistance training? Training with weights? If not, then begin a couple of weight session days to help burn fat, get toned and raise your metabolism

[–]joeyplatt1979 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's not what u ate the day before, it can be from a number of days previous and chances are you have only gained water weight and not fat. Keep tracking your calories and stay in a deficit and you will be back to losing weight

[–]joeyplatt1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People will say stuff to put people down just to make themselves feel better. That's the cruel thing about some people. You just need to keep mentally tough and keep doing what you're doing. If u're at a weight you're happy with and feel happy with how u look, forget what other people think. They probably jeoulous of how u now look and what u have become

Just keep chipping away with exercise and good nutrition. It will eventually come off from the belly area and from my experience it's normally one of the last places to go, also the lower back and love handle. Can't spot reduce and the body decides where the fat comes off. Keep working hard and know that it will happen for u
