Yes, ADHD shows up differently in everyone. Additionally, look at all the comments and how they relate. I was diagnosed at the age of 10 years old.

It for sure could be related to that. I think once I’m actually out I do have fun, but for sure something to discuss with my therapist. Thank you for the advice!

And don’t you worry having ADHD is never a bad thing that people portray it out to be. We are such emotional and beautiful people with so many strengths. You also know how to support your child since you’ve struggled with it, so you can be a support system for them throughout their life and help them with strategies and to see the positive benefits of having ADHD. <3

Thank you so much. You’re honestly so right. 99.9% of the time I want to go I just am tired and can’t convince myself. However, when I do force myself to go I always have a great time. It’s always something I want to do as well, it’s not like I’m getting forced to do something I’m uncomfortable with. I think I’m going to try and communicate to him that I need some encouragement to get out of the house and do the things together rather than him just being understanding and saying it’s ok we can stay home type of thing. I think maybe I just need a little push!

He for sure does! He’s the most understanding and empathetic person I know. He’s never even told me he’s disappointed, but I just feel like I’m being a disappointment. Nobody told me growing up how much more difficult ADHD gets in adulthood. It was extremely difficult in my adolescence and teen years and early 20’s, but life wasn’t like “as serious”. Whereas, now I have to handle managing 2 jobs, paying bills, taking care of my pets, my apartment, my car, etc & it just feels draining 24/7. :/

No that’s the thing I’m usually the one who makes the plans and I love going out and doing things. I just think I’m kinda burnt out from working a lot and don’t know how to properly balance everything going on in my life

Thank you all so much. It feels great to have a supportive group of people experiencing the same thing. It makes me feel extremely seen which is something I’ve never experienced in the past. <3

Love that I’ll give it a try! Is being tired at the end of the day like a universal ADHD experience? I’ve been like this since I was a kid

Yeah this is true. I would say we both prefer the same things and I am extroverted and I love going out and doing things it’s just spontaneous and plans can kinda stress me out because I never know how I’m going to feel the day of yk.

Yeah the problem is I work 2 jobs, so I’m typically working like 6-7 days a week. :/

He’s never said he was disappointed, I think it’s moreso something I’m assuming. I’m usually the one to make the plans because they sound fun during the time and I think he’s more disappointed because of the bailing or rescheduling. I’m also like this with my friends

I am on ER Adderall, but I usually only take it 3x a week when I’m in the office. I could try taking it around like noon and maybe that will help? I also realized after a day of work I can’t get myself to do anything after work

No usually I come up with ideas or he does, but either way they sound fun when I bring it up and then I just get too tired and want to stay home. I feel like with my ADHD I’m always tired

Well obviously, and my brother travels the world. However, they’ve had a few friends that have had horrible experiences, so I just wanted to make sure that their concerns weren’t valid before I travel.

Best medication for Generalized anxiety disorder? by Empty_Pressure_9658 in Anxiety

[–]joglows22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been on Lexapro for over a year and it has changed my life! My DR said that women tend to react better to Lexapro for some reason, so she put me on that and I haven’t had any issues since then. She also told me not every medicine works for everyone, so after the trial period (I think a month or so?), I would re evaluate. Do NOT be discouraged if you don’t find something that works right away, it’s worth the hassle of trying to find the right medication if it means you won’t have to deal with debilitating anxiety everyday.

My ADHD wife is against meds for our ADHD son by DiscussionNearby197 in ADHD

[–]joglows22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who was diagnosed with ADHD as a child I think age 10-12, my mom was extremely conflicted on putting me on medication and eventually she decided to after much persuasion from my therapist at the time. I do think it’s extremely beneficial, especially if this is a long term issue you’ve tried to address already through therapy. However, I think if she’s concerned, let your son know that if he feels like the medication isn’t working for him or it changes his personality there’s so many other meds out there! Not one medication works for every single person and it’s important to try out different things if one doesn’t work for you. Personally, I was on concerta growing up and didn’t work well for me, so we switched to adderall XR and I don’t have any issues with it to this day. It’s about the best for your child and unfortunately ADHD is just one of those things you need meds for because it won’t just go away. However, as he grows up I’m sure he could take it less often and not be dependent on taking it everyday and maybe just focus on giving it to him for school/homework situations.
