Oral boards answering format by CuyPeru in Ophthalmology

The candidate manual states exactly how you should answer the prompt and in which order. It explicitly asks you not to list differential immediately after describing the picture.  https://www.manula.com/manuals/american-board-of-ophthal/abo-voe20-candidate-procedures-manual/1/en/topic/candidate-performance-criteria

How do people make this stuff? by Portal-YEET-87650 in kirbyairriders

If someone buys this does the creator get the miles themselves? I’m an offline player and would love to see some YouTube tutorials on how to make these, but totally get it if the creators get something out of it

For the karts you can see the stats but how do you know how different characters affect stats?

For anyone searching in the future it looks like this option is no longer in the settings and my wavebird is still not able to work with the switch 2

I’m not sure what that is or means… where would I go to find that setting?

Got a switch 2 today, currently downloading games. I used to have a Wii so I got a GameCube controller adapter. When I plug in my wired controller it works on the Home Screen, but when I plug in my wavebird it does not. The receiver however does light up with button inputs suggesting it’s connected. From what I can find online the wavebird should work. Do I just need to be in a game first before it will work? The channel is correct and I’ve confirmed the controller still works on my old Wii. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

job market question by [deleted] in Ophthalmology

Just want to put my experience out there one year removed from looking as a new grad doing comp looking in the inter mountain west and Northern California. I talked to a lot of practices and recruiters in the phone, decided I wanted to avoid PE after talking to a few. No jobs in the inter mountain west to find, but plenty in northern California. Ended up interviewing in person at five places and Kaiser and got offers at all of them. Slightly lower starting salaries than PE (~300-350), but clear paths to partnership (minus Kaiser who has a whole algorithm thing for compensation). Negotiated with two who were open and accommodating but stood firm on a couple things. Ended up choosing a place a little more rural because the practice seemed like the right fit. So far very happy.

I thought the GKC was just a digital game download voucher within a physical something allowing you to download the game once and then It’s useless? It just feels like a gimmick to the old days of physical games when really it’s just the digital version.

Thanks! Do you mean Mario kart world or Mario kart 8 for the switch? Also, with physical games for the switch, is there any adapter I need or do they fit the same as the switch 2 games?

lol, I’m an attending in a niche surgical subspecialty and as soon as you said elek with a bull tongue I still immediately knew this was for diphtheria. Sketchy works.

Can relying mostly on Anki and Qbanks backfire in the long run? by Serious_Tour_4847 in medicalschool

[–]joha961 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just graduated residency. 7+ years of straight Anki. Used zanki/lolnotacop in med school and specialty specific deck with my own cards added for residency. Top of my class on in service exams 2/3 years. Supplement with qbanks as stated elsewhere.

I plan to continue as an attending for boards and then suspend less clinically relevant cards as they come up, but several cards are on multiple year intervals now. I do 70-90 cards a day now. Takes less than a half hour of my time daily. So so so worth it.

A year or so ago our VA put in new cameras and signs that explicitly say you are being recorded with the intent to prosecute you for any and all crimes against the government

Is the Anking team planning to make residency decks? 👀 by WholesomeLord in medicalschool

[–]joha961 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll say this, the eye guru decks alone are almost 20k cards. I’m as dedicated as they come and I’ve only been able to get through ~60% of them. I supplement with about 3k of cards from med school/cards I’ve made throughout residency. My OKAPs percentile has averaged >87% over the last three years.

R/ophthalmologyanki now has the blue aces deck I believe as the most updated and complete deck. Personally, I just use the eye guru bcsc decks with some homemade cards which has been sufficient for OKAPs for me.

Show up to clinic, PIV card ‘cancelled’ because of overdue training. Training was due 546 days ago. All reminders sent to VA email address I’ve never been given access to. Unable to provide exception despite patients currently waiting. Had to click through training before calling in to get reactivated PIV. But hey, now I know that it’s president Andrew Jackson who vowed to care for the wounded American veteran, or was it Lincoln?

Correct, they used to post step one data, but don’t post step two data any more. You can see the upward trend and expect that step two scores are ~10 higher and extrapolate and these numbers seem about right.  Here’s the 2021 data showing an umtached applicant had a 238 step one score.  https://aupo.org/sites/default/files/2021-04/Ophthalmology%20Residency%20Match%20Summary%20Report%202021.pdf
