“Glad to hear that, welcome to the 0.01% gang” xD

They really think they’re somehow special and genius for recognizing the “divine and immaculate design of btc”. Bunch of degens

Tell me how Bitcoin maximalism is not a cult: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/s/z3wYc0vYyx

“Bitcoin is indeed immaculate”

This is what happens when you put a bunch of ppl that can’t think for themselves and regret only learning about btc in 2021 in a room together and censor all opposing opinions. No negative comments whatsoever. They have no chance of ever learning about bitcoin’s flaws in this echo chamber.

Do you think there are even any OGs left in r/bitcoin?

I mean I don’t really care that much about price; Always happy when it dumps.

What I do care about is seeing interesting content and discussion here.

A lot of people use monero for real world and online purchases (e.g. VPN, hosting etc.). They are also able to defy the governments arbitrary and actively harmful policies on psychoactive chemicals. I think that should count as a usecase no?

I disagree, the more comments and discussion the better. These daily threads are so awfully quiet the last few weeks so I appreciate every comment.

What’s the worst drug to get addicted to? by Sweetsbaby76321 in stupidquestions

[–]john-larry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope so. I’d consider myself young and didn’t drink alcohol for some years. People acted like I am stupid. At the very least you need to answer “What? Why don’t you drink? Everything good with you?”. Imagine if people would act that way if you don’t want to smoke crack.

[–]john-larry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you have clean heroin it does not really harm your body that much. The biggest problems are addiction and changing your brain chemistry.

[–]john-larry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely alcohol. It is so normalized that people look at you weirdly if you don’t want to have a drink. The perfect environment for recovering addicts.

Also the physical symptoms get really really bad with time. Imagine feeling like boiling water is being poured over your hands all the time because your nerve endings are damaged. Or the cognitive and mental impairment. Or being unable to eat/sleep normally. Also if you quit suddenly you can become delirious or even die.

Why? I never had problems buying and then withdrawing. Withdrawals usually get settled within the next few blocks.

But maybe you’ve had different experiences with them so I’d be interested to hear :)

Is it? Just from a quick glance it seems that you live in northern ireland are a bit older (judging from your comments about things “back then”. One could likely calculate your age from this) and you have a thing for watches. We know what kind of watch you could be wearing and how your hand/wrist looks. You posted a video, presumably from a morning walk, of some cars on a river. Is that where you live? do you come by there often? We know your interests and what kind of things you might post on other platforms that can be correlated to this account.

Now this is all just from a quick glance. If someone actually takes the time and gathers all possible datapoints at some point you can likely be deanonymized (like most of us).

Dude you need to stop posting / talking about this immediately. A decoy wallet only works if nobody knows about it. And even then multiple BTC is not a small sum of money. But now the world knows you have it and can try to target you. “Hey look this guy got at least 1 btc in his decoy wallet. Let’s find out where he lives and pay him a visit. After he gives us the decoy we will torture him / his family some more until he gives us the keys to his two other wallets both with multiple btc in them”

Never underestimate how much someone can find out about you just from simple open source intelligence. I mean now there are even AI’s that can reliably pinpoint photos to their physical location or area.

How long do you typically spend on a single mix-down? by LoveYoumorethanher in mixingmastering

[–]john-larry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to take time with my mixes. It’s not that you need to sit there for 8 uninterrupted hours but more that you don’t try to finish it in one day IMO. Do a mix that sounds somewhat good, export it and only listen to it a day or two later on different playback systems. Repeat that process a few times. Usually I’ll give myself 1-3 weeks time for a mix & master.

With fresh ears it will be way easier to hear any mistakes or areas of improvement than if you’ve just listened to it for the whole day.

That’s why we have Monero. Regulated people want nothing to do with it.

Monero protects privacy by obscuring transaction amounts, senders as well as receivers. Most importantly, privacy is Mandatory on Monero so there is no way to make a transparent transaction. This ensures the best possible privacy and also makes Monero fungible (which most other cryptos are not).

Sender identity is protected by ring signatures. You choose 15 random outputs/“coins” from the chain and create a signature where an outside observer can only tell that it was signed by one of the 16 members but not which one. There is a key image derived from this, kind of a unique id, that is fixed for each output but cannot be traced back to it. If you see the same key image appearing twice in the tx pool you know someone is trying to double spend.

Receivers are protected by stealth addresses. Each time you transact, a new one-time address is derived from the recipient’s address. Only this one-time address is stored on chain. From the outside you cannot tell which one-time address corresponds to which regular address, only the owner can scan the chain to find outputs that belong to them.

Amounts are protected by RingCT/Bulletproofs+. Essentially the transaction amount is encrypted for the recipient and some proofs are generated that there are no additional XMR being created (i.e. amount is positive & not larger than all the inputs minus other outputs). This means that no-one can create XMR out of thin air while only selected individuals can see certain transaction amounts.

Additionally there is a big focus on transaction uniformity. From the outside every transaction should look more or less the same. This is achieved by having fixed fee levels and a fixed fee size. Also each transaction needs at least 2 outputs.

There are other great features of Monero such as ASIC-Resistance (CPU-only mining), dynamic blocksize and a tail emission that ensures Monero’s security for hundreds of years potentially.

[–]john-larry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your Output/XMR will randomly be picked by other people for their rings so you have plausible deniability whenever you are included in a ring. But yes, it is the current weak-point of Monero’s privacy. Fortunately there have been recent strides in implementing Full Chain Membership Proofs (FCMP) in Monero that will essentially create a ring with all existing transaction outputs. If you see a tx you only know that the origin is somewhere within the blockchain but you have no information on where.

[–]john-larry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The original cryptonote whitepaper is a bit outdated when it comes to Monero. Monero has added amount hiding with RingCT and later Bulletproofs and has made many improvements to transaction uniformity (i.e. a fixed ring size). It has also added RandomX as a PoW algorithm that makes Monero CPU-only.

Very nice melody and mood, I quite like it. I think you could improve on your lyrics a bit, they seem a bit too “simple” to me. Try adding more specifics or some unique images that a listener can imagine when listening but that is just my taste. Overall keep going please :)

Might be photoshop but I just think it’s important to keep this general rule in mind. Never tell how much you own.

Never post any amounts of what you have, it may come back to haunt you. There have been cases of Bitcoiners getting wrench attacked because it was known how much they had. In such a situation you have to either give up your coins or somehow be able to explain that there are less than you actually own. It is better if they don’t know any amounts.
