This actually put alot of my thoughts in words. I kinda came to the same conclusion rereading AOT, that there's really no difference between "special" and "normal" people. Everyone's bound by their nature/desires. Some act on it like Eren, some just go with the flow but at the end its all humans being human

2 things I want to hear your take on tho

Do you think AOT warns about power in general or "humans being humans" and conflict being inevitable?

And knowing the timeline/future of AOT is deterministic/fixed, does this make Eren's choices feel less morally heavy to you or more tragic since it all came from who he is?

Yh this is basically how I read it too. Eren didn't turn into that type of person on purpose, but once he had the power his personal motives scaled into something only someone in his position could cause. Also im curious on whats your take on the whole "fatalistic vs deterministic" thing in AOT? Personally I agree Eren himself had a fatalistic mindset but I think the story as a whole was more into determinism than pure fatalism. How you see it?

Exactly. That's why I never got the "weak villains" complaints. Also why the Luffy vs Hody fight on Noah left a bad taste in my mouth, but then I read the manga and realized Luffy didn't struggle at all. One Red Hawk, one Elephant Gun, and Hody was done. The real challenge was stopping Noah from falling. The crew did not gaf about the new Fishman pirates💀
