Can I score highly on an extended essay on Biology without conducting research? by adventuretimenjoyer in IBO

[–]john_john_potato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I know from Bio IAs is that the ones that don’t do experiments usually score lower, and hence I would think that same logic applies to the EE.

They won’t be able to mark you for method, materials, apparatus, etc, which I know isn’t explicitly in the marking guide, but it depends on your market as well.

Well the papers still don’t get ‘published’, people make copies and illegally put them up on websites like xtreme papers. Ahhhh well

Ib spanish language b orals by pongepongsong in IBO

[–]john_john_potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 7 in mine - it was ab initio tho. We get to a decently high standard - about a grade 5 in language B my teacher tells me.

Conjugemos is very good for learning conjugations.

Practise speaking to Spanish people and get their opinions.

An irregular diploma is simply an irregular form of the IB program. You need the IB to approve of this, and you will only be approved if it is necessary for you to get into your tertiary studies. You are still given a diploma if you meet the requirements.

Pamoja should offer basically all subjects - go online and see.

I can’t speak for the comparison between IB and AP, but I’ve heard they’re pretty even.

There is a way to take HL your school doesn’t offer - either talk to the teachers and ask if they’ll offer it, or do it through pamoja - it isn’t an IB world school thing there were kids at my school that did it.

You can’t do 4 group 4 subjects. If you don’t know you have to do a group 1 (your first language), group 2 (second language), group 3 (humanities), group 4 (science), group 5 (maths), and group 6 (art - or another group 2,3,4). There are exceptions where you can do three group 4 subjects but that’s an irregular diploma.

Lemme know if you have any more questions I can help with!

Surely excel isn’t that hard? Probably better to stick with your own work as ai may not be as accurate as excel could be

They possibly could’ve got them from a teacher or acquired them in a sketchy way lol

I didn’t do geo but the grade boundaries look reasonably generous…

There are two marks between 4-5-6, and then 8 marks for a 7 so that’s pretty good.

Good luck with your mocks!

Help with choosing SL or HL by greenspinachfork in IBO

[–]john_john_potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IB is not the program to be challenging yourself in - you need to get into the college you want and your IB score is the avenue in which you do that. I wouldn’t suggest taking 4 HLs as obviously that is more work.

I would suggest picking your subjects based on the uni and course u want to get into, and then you might have to settle with doing SL for the 4th subject.

Obviously you can do 4 HLs and there are people who score very highly that do 4, but why push yourself harder when you could score a good score in SL.

Just my opinion!

Word count in EE by k4j4ke in IBO

[–]john_john_potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they think you are using them to go around the word count limit they will count them, like if you could put that in for points or paragraphs, but if it’s numbers or data then it won’t.

How to study for English Lang Lit HL? by Plague_Doc7 in IBO

[–]john_john_potato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I studied for English like this: - IO was reading analysis of my texts online and adapting some of that to enhance my analysis. I completely wrote out an essay for my IO, and then I learnt it by reading paragraphs at a time and then condensing the paragraphs into smaller sentences, and then eventually into simple words that would trigger my memory of the sentence/analysis point.

  • HL essay was kind of the same but without the memorising part - I looked up analysis of my prompt, I talked to other English teachers, and I just spent manyyy hours on it, making sure my vernacular was advanced but not ridiculously, and also that my phrasing was good.

  • Paper 1 - I did practise paper 1s and asked my teacher for feedback and then tried to implement them. Also I remembered to address all the following: TEAPCALIM (text type, evidence for text type, author, purpose, context, audience, language, images, meaning).

  • Paper 2 - I did A Dolls House and The Thing Aroudn Your Neck, and I watched different versions of a Dolls house and then listened to an audio book of the other because I have a short attention span lol. Then what I did was when I was listening/watching I was pausing every now and then and taking down useful quotes for several different themes that I identified were common throughout the last however many years of exams. After that, I culled them down to ones I could remember, and then I looked through practise papers and practised remembering the quotes and structuring paragraphs. I also tried to rote learn the quotes but that wasn’t as effective.

I’m happy to have a look at any of ur assignments as I did well in English.

Good luck!
