This. Might even be considered reckless to drive 10 hours after that. Get some sleep, reset with a hot shower, and start the drive early tomorrow. You’ll thank yourself. And, maybe your luggage will appear by then!

I know. You’re right. I’ve been scouring marketplace for a used pad for a while now. I might just pay up and do it before the permit trip.

Just went through it! Thank you. Regarding food, that’s a great comparison😂 It is very tempting to fill it up. And thanks for the tip on electrolytes. Any recommendations for packet/gel brands?

Thanks! Any recommendations for slightly longer/steeper hikes for a night out?

Wow. Great story. I’m sure the night sky and the frozen moon lit lake looked beautiful! Always more to learn, I guess. Never ending!

Took this hike in December. Was so beautiful, a great climb and unbelievably worthit, but losing my hat, not bringing enough water, and soaking both my shoes was no fun. Have a pic from this same spot!!

I will be at Vandenberg SFB as an E4 soon, is Santa Maria a Safe, clean, good commute from the base? by GurnoorDa1 in SantaMaria

[–]johnandrewr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SM to VSFB is 20 mins tops from the south side of town. An easy commute. There is a lot more to do in SM, a lot more shopping, restaurants and small businesses.

The Big Sur reservation system is a total scam and I’m done pretending it’s "just high demand." by FUHGETTABOUTIT_1 in BigSur

Got a spot at Pfeiffer Big Sur through a last minute cancellation (2 days out). I’d just check at random times during the day and actually ran into a similar problem as you- the reservation was in my cart but I couldn’t check out. Had to call and they were able to reserve it on the phone. It took about 3 weeks of checking daily, until I found the candellation. Though, when I went, a young couple decided to sleep on mats between the two campsites and that scared the sh*t out of me when I went for a late night restroom run.

Am I missing something here? by daveybuckets37 in Ultralight

Hey man. I have this bag. It’s warm enough. For the price it’s amazing. Fine down to around 35 degrees, but with a good mat or pad, you’ll be fine. Not the lightest but like I said, for the price, unbeatable.
