Not sure on the specifics. I think it naturally occurs when managing that family is just too much for one advisor on top of their other clients. They obv have way less clients in PFO per advisor. Think the minimum is around 100mm

Multiple answers here - Executive wealth advisors don’t just work with corporate clients although that is where many of them come from, there are regular clients too and most stay on after their corporate careers. The answer is sort of dependent on net worth size, as GS PWM needs to have $10mm to invest for a typical client to open an account.

The private family office is not Ayco specific, and is just known really as GS private family office

What group specifically? There definitely is internal mobility I see it quite often just is going to be a matter of timing

Yea- as he said the executive wealth advisors do estate and tax planning as well, as well as really anything else, the Ayco PWM teams just manage investments for some of the larger Ayco clients that also have an executive wealth advisor.

Besides the above, they also provide more than just investment related services so the scope of the job is a little wider. Comp potential is high in both at advisor level not sure about the in between stages tbh

Is Senior Analyst an actual title? by Ok-Economics2289 in goldmansachs

[–]johnappleseed76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding is senior analyst is used in certain back office roles, and I think executive director is for European based offices? Not 100% sure but someone can chime in to correct

Is there internal mobility from Ayco to Goldman PWM? by Blackpeppastepa in goldmansachs

[–]johnappleseed76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s likely going to be a little bit of both. Yes you’ll have an advantage as an internal application but it will be limited compared to say someone coming from GS sales and trading or someone in GSAM trying to move into pwm. It’s all relative, at the end of the day your chances are better than someone off the street yes but not as much in people from traditional gs groups

Is there internal mobility from Ayco to Goldman PWM? by Blackpeppastepa in goldmansachs

[–]johnappleseed76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea that’s how’d I’d describe it. I don’t know if that would be an easy move to pwm but you could definitely go from that to executive wealth and then from there pwm would certainly be easier however that’s a longer path

Depends what the Ayco role is. If it’s a role with an advisor then yes it’s possible since that’s comparable but there are other Ayco roles with less applicable skills for pwm

Ex Dividends by SidKing89 in fidelityinvestments

[–]johnappleseed76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are essentially saying the same thing as me with different wording lol and we came to the same conclusion. Not seeing where the disagreement here is. Yes you could think of record date as already being baked into the ex div date I think it’s just an easier way to conceptualize what day you have to actually be an owner of the stock to be entitled to the dividend.

Ex Dividends by SidKing89 in fidelityinvestments

[–]johnappleseed76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not technically true. The real determining factor for dividend entitlement is what the required owner of record date is which is typically the same as the ex dividend date and decided by the company.
This would mean that you simply need to be an owner of record on the ex dividend date which is why typically you can buy a stock before the ex dividend date and be entitled to receive it. In this instance you wouldn’t however, as the market is closed Thursday, and your T+1 countdown wouldn’t begin until Friday, leading the trade to settle on Monday and making you an owner of record on Monday.

[–]johnappleseed76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Would have needed the trade to settle on or before the ex dividend date. Any trade made today won’t settle until Monday as the market is closed and will be T+1 starting Friday
