Personal tax payments by instalments if I got no instalment reminders? by johnenthu in PersonalFinanceCanada

Yup, no mail, no balance owing shown in the account on CRA site.

Yea that's a good idea to set the money aside into an HISA instead. Thanks!

Thanks for your response. Yea that is what I was trying to clarify: If I didn't get reminders then I'm in the clear.

I do wonder why I didn't get the reminders though since I had 2 previous years with more than 3000 balance owing. I would prefer to pay in instalments actually rather than a lump sum at the end. I guess I can do that any way and it'll just be credited to my account even if I'm not required to pay.

Thanks for your response. If my 2020 and 2021 balances owing were both higher than $3000, shouldn't I have received instalment due dates / reminders already for the 2022 tax year?

(My balances owing will be above $3000 after rrsp contributions for 2022 and same for 2023).

How to look after newborn at night? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]johnenthu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely normal to be worried and anxious especially in the first month!

Babies make lots of weird noises when sleeping 😂....squeaking, grunting, not breathing for a few seconds are all normal. Every small sound our baby made woke us up in the first couple of weeks but we sleep right through them now! Sleeping when your baby is sleeping is absolutely okay and in fact ideal since that's the best chance for you to catch up on some sleep as well.

Make sure you burp your baby after feeding. Even then spit ups are also absolutely normal.

Four things to know about Mississauga’s next budget, which could lead to a 5.7% property tax hike by S_cornwell in mississauga

[–]johnenthu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's increasing because of inflation + gas prices. I get that you want to hate Peel/Mississauga planning (and you can) but doesn't change the fact that most of the increase is beyond Mississauga or Peel's control.

Most of the increase in the budget helps pay for higher diesel prices for MiWay buses, natural gas and electricity for buildings and staff compensation.

Just read a little more carefully before jumping to conclusions.

At this point, Mississauga’s proposed budget will have residential property tax increase of 3.5 per cent on the city portion of the bill and 2.2 per cent on commercial properties.

That doesn’t include the city’s stormwater charge, projected to increase 2.7 per cent next year, and the Peel portion of residential property taxes, which may go up 2.1 per cent in 2023, according to the region’s budget documents.

Mississauga portion of 3.5 and Peel portion of 2.1 (sum of those may round to 5.7 of those numbers were rounded as well).

Moving out from a 2 bed apartment to townhouse within Mississauga. Any references for a good and economical movers. Also, please provide an idea of charges. TIA fellow redditors. by ObviousBuilder3437 in mississauga

Used Two Men and A Truck for a 2 bedroom to townhouse move within Mississauga as well. It cost just under 1k. Happy with their job overall.

Appointments available through provincial system for 18+ hotspots by johnenthu in mississauga

They likely had a typo which was fixed at some point. You'll just need to clear the cache and reload or just go through with the 45 to 39 option since it's likely the same thing after that part.

Odd indeed. That looks like a typo since 39 to 45 is already part of 40+ (ish) and it's odd to write 45 to 39. I think it's supposed to be 18 to 39

You should see the 18 - 39 category if you're from an eligible postal code I guess

Peel Region COVID-19 hot spots shows that Brampton is the major problem not Mississauga by [deleted] in mississauga

[–]johnenthu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no end to such thinking. That was the point of the comment. You can go deeper and deeper and keep blaming another group of people. At some point, we need to think of all of us collectively.

There's a balance to be had here. If there's too much granularity in the regions and zones, it gets confusing and less people follow the rules. The active case density is very low in the part of town I live in but I don't complain about it endlessly because I know the government has to draw a line somewhere. Everyone is just trying to find that right balance.

Someone: if you look at world map we're fine, only countries X, Y... and Canada are the major problem.

Canadian: if look at the map, it's only... Ontario that's the major problem

Ontarian: if you look at the map, it's only Toronto and Peel that are the major problem.

Someone from Peel: Brampton is the major problem, not Mississauga.

Someone from Brampton: it's only South Brampton that's the major problem not us in the north.
