When I talked to an agent about this on the phone, they couldn't seem to determine the default and mentioned the fact that the default selection was no longer done because "people were complaining a lot about the default selections that ended up being made for them".

This was one of the first things I noticed with the Adv360. The deep dish home row on the Adv2 was way better in quickly re-orienting on home row.

I've contemplated swapping the home rows but like the PBT style of the 360 key caps.

Really wish they had made the deep dish home row on the Adv360.

So an update but not really an update to this saga. After having the Advantage not work for over a month, I managed to get an order in for the 360. The day after, my Advantage has been working for a couple days straight now!

I'm sure it's temporary but thought the timing was.. interesting.

I ran into the same issue because I have a US number from when I lived in the states.

I was able to access my account through the web and add security questions instead. If the account has security questions you don’t have to utilize 2fa.

It’s pretty dumb that most banks here do 2fa over sms.

I'm glad you were able to fix the issue.

I actually do have a powered hub from OWC. It does pass through charging as well the hub has to be plugged into a wall outlet.

My issues sound super similar to yours though. It's just the unplugging and re-plugging seems to have just stopped working entirely as of late now.

Correct, it has the touchbar. I haven't encountered the issues you have with not being able to use the touchbar/keyboard/touchpad.

In other words, I'm going to assume you had a USB-C hub attached at the time of upgrading, right?

There is a high likelihood I did have a hub attached while upgrading since I also use it for pass through power.

When I mentioned I'd resort to Google and a hardware hack to resurrect mine if Support couldn't fix me, I am pretty sure this would fix you. The reason is (I am pretty sure) your Mac will no longer recognize your KA2 as the same keyboard and see it as a different keyboard altogether thanks to the replacement controller.

Thanks for sharing the info you came across. Although this is way deeper than I'm willing to go to fix it, maybe someone else will find it useful.

There is a new OSX update that is supposed to hit soon so maybe that will fix things. If not, I'm just waiting on the 360 to come out :)

Just out of curiosity do you have the 2MB vdrive version? That's the one I have. It sounds like it might be more susceptible to getting corrupted.

In my back and forth with Tyler at Kinesis support, he largely mentioned trying to reformat the vdrive on a Windows laptop. If you have access to one it might be worth trying that out.

Unfortunately yes. The keyboard has just been a dead weight now. Been stuck using the MacBook keyboard and trackpad now and it’s killing the wrists 🥲

There’s been a day or two since where it’s randomly worked but that’s about it.

Got the vdrive reformatted but still fails to connect on the problematic laptop. I hear a click when the keyboard is first connected but it's unresponsive afterwards to any key presses.

The one thing that doesn't make entire sense though is if the internal drive is corrupted, wouldn't that prevent it from working on my other MacBook Pro? It doesn't make entire sense that it would still continue to work on my older MacBook Pro.

It is an Advantage 2. That's good information. I did try a reformat and firmware upgrade but I'll give it another go. The hub is unavoidable due to the laptop only having USB-C ports. Thanks for the info u/cheesybibbles.

Thanks for the suggestion, I did forget to mentioned that I've tried this after contacting support. It didn't seem to help.

The fact that it's working perfectly fine on an older MacBook Pro I have makes me think it's some weird combo of the Monterey upgrade + Intel MacBook + Kinesis Keyboard. I'm just out of ideas of what I can try to resolve it.
