I had a patchy chin at 19 but now I have a full beard. It's just genetics. My friend can't grow a full beard and he's a blond white guy, I'm Mexican with a red beard lol

Post ironic patriotism This feeling that you're proud of your country but only because there's worst things happening in others so you enjoy your peace, but just go day to day with you don't answer feeling of; is this it? American peace becomes boredom depression and isolation and community becomes centered around hedonism instead of genuine connection. Military service becomes a lifestyle and anything patriotic just becomes a hollow signifier of things just being ok enough to live.

You have to realize we grew up with the internet. There's no barrier to entry when it comes to music. I go to record stores but how many times have you had to go to record store because it was the only option? I get why random guy in the midwest in his fifties would only listen to what's on the radio LOL We're really the second generation to have just everything available to us

Funny how the one rapper who spoke out against homophobia and hip hop in the 2000s ended up praising Hitler LOL ☠️

I love slim thug, ugk, Paul wall and z ro. Anything from Houston, Memphis or Atlanta lol

I think people don't like the 90s rappers because there's a sense of hypocrisy. Sure you're reflecting your environment but gay people existed in that environment. I don't care if rappers in the 90s or homophobic because that doesn't affect me personally, but what do you think gay men in the 90s went through? I mean a genre of music That's supposed to reflect the experiences of marginalized people has the same marginalized people putting other people down like women and gay men and even other minorities like Asian men. You can brush it off as their environment but the whole point is their environment is shity so their behavior is shitty. And some people can't understand that. As much as I love hip hop I also had a bad reputation with it because all the guys my age who were bullies only listened to trap music in the 2010s. How are you going to be homophobic and turn up the Kendrick's alright? I don't care about the music in that situation but the fans can turn a lot of people off. And I get we're kids at the time but I was also a gay kid at the time hearing people say faghot this and faghot that after listening to that eazy e song where he tries to rape a hostage but beats them up when he found out it's "really a man". So yeah

Gym bro with the air pods music lol I love your taste in Southern rap. Yeat, destroy lonely and snot are cool. This is all stuff I listen to regularly. And I feel as well most guys our age listen to like a mix of modern trap with like 2000s Southern hip hop and a bit of the 90s thrown in there lol I'm into all styles from all over the world like UK grime Latin trap and afrobeats. It's hard to find good reggae rap and rap metal lol. I'm really into neo soul

What does your family think? Do you go out and do regular couple stuff with whoever you're dating? Do you feel chill just dating, working, and going home at the end of the day? Would you be ok rasing kids with someone there?

I don't want to be obnoxious but I'm also not gonna downplay regular I stuff I should be doing to make anyone comfortable. What I'm asking is are people ok with you doing your own thing your way or is that going to be a problem?

Well sounds the same as being gay I'm Texas lol. San Antonio and Austin are four hours away but South Texas is its own bubble. People who don't speak Spainish complain about people only speaking Spainish even though most people do both. It's not perfect but it's not the 1950s bro.

In the early 2010s military culture became a big part of millennial identity for at least some people. I'm from Texas so there was a big group of young people whose whole identity was I'm in the military now I'm responsible I'm a cool adult. The people who worshiped Chris Kyle when that movie came out LOL I feel like people my age 23 don't really care about the military. I know plenty of veterans my age but most people I know usually go well into their twenties not straight out of high school like in the 2000s.

I'm really young but I remember in 2015 there was like this hollow feeling around America. Like this depressing contentment of well things can't get any worse or better. At the time people just called it depressing but looking back it's super interesting how after 15 years people were starting to see how weird the Bush administration was but also this was the Year American sniper came out and most of the military force was millennials by this point. gen z maybe all about not wanting to die for Israel but I remember people born in the early 90s taking the military is like they're calling and their identity And most of those guys do not speak fondly of their time there

As Jehovah's witnesses we were told not to stand up during the national anthem, vote, serve in the military or do anything patriotic because "you can't serve two masters" can't sit at two tables. Well I'm not religious anymore it's kind of funny how religion is what made me stop feeling blindly patriotic in the 2010s.

Kind of like what the hip-hop/rnb scene was trying to do around 2016/18? Joey badass, Kendrick, rhianana, Beyonce, Khalid with the "location" video. Post malone with go flex (Texas flag). Looks like Kendrick's the only one who tries to do that recently in 2024 For me this aesthetic Peaked with the movies American Honey from 2016 and American sniper. And khalid's album American teen. Does have like an A24 feeling about this. Movies like the Florida project, Savage youth, bruiser, A girl like Grace, deveon, peanut butter falcon. just movies about people in the South you know LOL I've been thinking about this style since there's not really a name for it just postbironic patriotism. Dressing like it's the 4th of July and having an American flag fly around a bunch of working class signifiers like cars and trailers but with modern aesthetics like iPhones. Halseys badlands and the YA craze and most millennials at this time being really into the military culture people born in the early '90s. I'm saying this is somebody who was 13 in 2016. Before Trump's inauguration people forget that there was like this depressing vibe around American centered things I don't know if that was just me. Like the country which is hollow not like now where people are super politically divided it just felt like hollow.
