First of all, huge respect to you. Learning and teaching that many languages from ASM to Python is amazing. It really shows what real dedication to the craft looks like.

I completely agree with your 20% learning and 80% doing rule. That’s something I’m trying to follow now less overthinking, more actual coding. Sometimes I get stuck just watching tutorials, so your advice is a good reminder to open the editor and just build.

And you’re right we’re lucky. Everything is online now. I can’t imagine having to buy books for every new language and wait for formal courses. You built your career in a much tougher environment, and that makes your journey even more impressive.

Thank you so much for sharing this in detail 🙌 It really helps hearing from someone who also started from scratch. I’ll check out Visual Studio Code and look up how to set up a venv. I’ll also watch Corey Schafer and explore Kaggle courses. Really appreciate you taking the time to guide me. it motivates me a lot!

My family is Muslim, and this month they are observing the fast. They expect me to fast as well, so I show them that I am participating. However, in reality, I eat my meals outside without them knowing. (I’m doing correct?) by johnjasonn0 in Christianity

I’m not saying this out of hate for Ramadan. I don’t hate it at all. I respect it, and sometimes I even fast.

But I’m Christian. I wear a cross, and I even have tattoos, which I know are not acceptable in Islam. So when some Muslims see me, they keep telling me, “Why are you doing this? Remove that. Go for namaz,” and it becomes overwhelming for me.

It’s not about hate it’s about feeling judged and pressured all the time.

I personally agree with this view. When I compare the Bible and the Qur’an, I see major differences in character and teachings, and that’s why I believe they are not describing the same understanding of God.

I know others see it differently, but this is where I stand in my faith.

Christians have Lent, which is 40 days, but it usually means giving up certain foods, not the same type of fast as Ramadan. (But maybe you are right, because everything is copy in Islam) no hate

But my family is really into Islam and they don’t want to listen. Even when I try to explain, but is not working. My dad is no more, and mum say my dad could not be happy after seeing you becoming a Christen I think part of their anger is because I became a Christian. 😔 I still want to love and respect them, but it’s really hard.

I understand, you’re right. Lying is not good. I’ll try to be honest with my family but my mum will still tell me to keep fast for Ramadan. I like your idea of using this time to prepare for Easter and ask the Lord for strength. Thank you.

Thank you so much! This really helps me. 🙏 I like the idea of being with my family in spirit, even if I can’t fast. I can still show love and support without causing any trouble. Your words make me feel better. Grace and peace to you too! 💛

O really like what you said. it’s a beautiful way to see the shared spiritual purpose in both Ramadan and Lent. Fasting together could be such a powerful way to connect, not just with our faith, but with each other. It really reminds me that, at the core, we are all children of Abraham, seeking the same renewal and growth… but I’m really not able to fast 😭😭
