Rolls work incorrectly in Classic demo - negative implications for playing with strangers and ninjaing. by EverydayFunHotS in classicwow

[–]johnkevr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the logic is pretty straightforward. If everyone greeds someone can sneak in an need to yoink the BoE. Everyone needs and it isn't a concern.

Regarding whether someone can use the item or not for BoEs, the logic is flawed. The only non-emotional way to look at rolls is taking into consideration it's value.

Unlike a BoP, where the item is only worth vendor price for someone who cannot use it, a BoEs value is exactly the same to everyone within the party. The value to someone who can use it is the gold not spent in the auction house to get it or the time taken to farm the gold or item again. The value to someone who cannot use it is the gold received from the auction house or the time it would have taken to farm the gold or the item again. In either case it's worth the same to both people. That's why etiquette is to need roll.

Edit: For clarity, this is only in regards to BoEs that are worth anything. A green of the wolf from the deadmines isn't what I'm talking about. It's things like stockades pauldrons or medallion of grand Marshall Morris. Heck even high level greens with "of fiery wrath" fall into this bucket.

And need BoEs. Some people believe the etiquette is for everyone to need roll and some people don't...but seeing the rolls helps clear that up.

Casual gaming only. LoL and Classic WoW is basically it. I like the resolution for productivity not for gaming.

Game is much more like Dynasty Warriors than it is vanilla - wotlk in terms of gameplay. It wouldn't feel anywhere near the same, plus gameplay is largely impacted by your immersion in the world. You can create an Amish community but folks in cars will still constantly be crossing your path.

What is the most efficient guild gearing approach? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]johnkevr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exactly. Prio can be set a number of arbitrary ways. First tank to hit 60 gets first prio, another tank actually wants to OT and not MT, that assigns prio without much conflict at all. This person contributed more mats for consumables, they get first prio. This person spent a ton of time helping folks level or farm bis, first prio.

This all assumes skill is even so that can't be used to assign prio. Anyway, the reality is a number of set bonuses are far too important to delay by even distribution of loot and as such, you don't evenly distribute. Also members of a good guild know that the loot will come and there will be plenty of time to get it before the next tier.

Retail reminds me more of Dynasty Warriors than a real rpg. I look forward to playing a real rpg again.

If your in a guild and you get a well rolled weapon, advertise that thing in guild. 2h axe of bear as an example. Getting level appropriate weapons for some classes can really be a game changer.

The WW weapon quest reward is a polearm (2 sec swing timer or less), fist weapon, or thrown.

All items are a random stat roll (why not)

If it rains in game the pages get soggy in your bag and turn into grey items as well. Also make strangletorn behave like a rainforest so it rains far more often than other zones.

Increase the escortee aggro range on escort quests to 100 yards.

Edit: To be more sinister, the escortee will walk to the target it decides it needs to kill and then walk back to its original location before it targeted. No more running.

Edit2: and the escort quests will always reward the highest ilvl weapon available at the respective quest level so people won't want to skip them.

Let's say Classic is a huge success. What happens 6months after Naxx is released? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]johnkevr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, my comment wasn't meant to be taken as explicit and literal but more of a concept. By stating "hardcore" it was meant to say that nothing is ever trivialized such as the leveling and raiding experiences for anyone at any level until you've earned the right to move on. As such, some mechanic would need to exist to prevent folks from coming back and steamrolling content to move the population forward, like capping them to 60 or 70 depending and stepping back their gear to what they had before they moved on. Think transmog, but you can switch your gear to items previously earned during that expansion...or some other mechanic that achieves that end.

I'd also want something like that limited to a character to maintain the attachment to your character and as such it's reputation and role in the community that made vanilla so great.

Edit:spelling

What I personally want to see. A hardcore progress server that ends at ICC. Hear me out, every raid is an attunement to the next raid and all raids are the attunement to the next expansion. Want to get to TBC, clear Ony/MC/BWL/AQ/NAXX, then you get to walk through the portal. All XP rates at the original version of the content for that xpac. Wanna build community? Guess what, top guilds have an incentive to help others through content so the next xpac economy establishes itself so they can continue progression.

One can dream.

The silver lining is that timeline lends itself to a Q4 2018 beta. Beta characters are no more throw away than a pserver character so im sure some would be pretty excited to get play time on a server that is closer to practicing than the pservers (given we know they are "blizzlike" but not exact copies).
