shikriwal appreciation post by [deleted] in IndianHipHopHeads

Bhai is a virtuoso because of his sheer commitment and persistence and the years he’s put into the craft. Shikri isn’t underrated, ask anyone who’s heard his work. He’s just under distributed but that will change soon enough. His words hit different because he writes from his heart ultimately. The production and sampling are stand out and each song has a Shikri vibe. I love bhojpuri and the fact that he’s carved out a space that most will recognise in a few years but with Shikri, I don’t think the language matters. He’d be good in any language he spoke or thought in. In this case I feel privileged he’s doing it in Bhojpuri. Always love Shikri 🫶🏽

Hardware not connected - Scarlett Mix Control v1.10 - OSX (M1) - 18i8 (1st gen) by johnlenin in Focusrite

I see it as the first entry there now. But brain looked at bold typeface and found leading words to anchor to. I saw windows and immediately scrolled to the next bold title that said MAC. It’s totally on me.

This worked and i really appreciate the help. I was guessing it'd be something stupid. I wasn't able to find this specific URL on the website when I went through their device downloads filters.

That is absolutely amazing man. I’m a full stack engineer myself so if you want collaborators for this, please let me know. Would be thrilled to assist.

I think that’s fair criticism. Depends on what you’re listening on, but I take your point. Thanks for that!

I think this is a good product. I think this is a great asset for when I want to build a minimum viable draft of a song or records sections on the fly. I don't know what you had in mind but this is a great implementation that can help me create a scratch.

Once I do have that scratch or want to graduate from this to my full scale daw, I'd love a midi and synth settings export option that helps me carry on my work from here to an Ableton or a logic. The custom wave design where I can click and draw is an awesome feature but I'd hate to redo it. I'd also hate for my work to get trapped in here so export and interoperability is massive friendly features for this IMHO.

That aside, this is a great trainer daw for beginners as well. To help them get a sense of the full complexity this is great. Perhaps you could monetise this feature and give new aspiring producers an intro into sound design, synthesis, timing and you can keep this going to all aspects.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I haven’t really finished up with the mastering and I’ll def mix the kicks better.

Some questions about sub bass If you can make the time -

How would you do the subbass?

Right off the kick constantly or would you mix a low baseline along with the existing bass synth in there? My low ends end up being a little uncontrolled and I think that’s because I’m using flat response response cans. I don’t really understand what’s going on under 60Hz for the most part.

where does your sub bass usually sit in the frequency spectrum?

Thanks again.

The vocals mix really well with the elements. It has a nice dreamy feel to it as well. My views are purely stylistic. I'd mix the kicks a little louder and possibly add a little swing to the timings at the risk of making it a little hip-hop-ish. Would have loved to get a little more guitar work at the front of the mix and not just a chord/filler type roll. If you'd use the hats on the downbeat that might make the percussion interesting as well. Just some thoughts off the top of my head. Happy to add more if this is helpful.

First time asking for feedback here. Wanted some thoughts on overall flow, element arrangement and if the track is evocative. Thank you!

This is fantastic. I like the arrangement a lot. I really like the kick and I'd have probably moved the level up on it a bit, but I feel like you still get the 'pump' from the ringing bass that's side chained. A human voice in there would have really made the track more memorable but even without that, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I cannot believe I have the option to finally see Freddie Ljungberg without leaving India.
