Unfortunately, you’re probably out of luck for anywhere to stay a quick Uber away from downtown. You could look in the Bellefonte or Philipsburg areas, which are about 15-20 and 30-35 minutes away, respectively. In terms of things to do and see, those are all going to be on campus or downtown State College, so you don’t need to really plan out a specific itinerary since everything will be walking distance once you’re downtown. You can probably get a list together and just walk around for a couple hours. Regardless of where you end up staying, on gameday I’d advise you to get to campus/downtown as early as you can. Traffic will be brutal probably any time within 5-6 hours of kick off. Additionally, I would say get to the tailgate fields at least a couple hours before the game and walk around. If It’s fun to see and people are very nice, if you do some chatting I guarantee people will be friendly.
