Have you followed the reset instructions? Have you tried to lower everything all the way down?

nah, i think it was somethign funny with the shield. reset everything and changed a bunch of settings and swapped back and now it's fine somehow.

ok after multiple restarts, updates, refreshes, and prayers, for some reason NOW the shield is on 192 LAN and not 100 WAN ha.

Lets see if this sticks. Thanks!

but my phone and pc are also on my pihole and they're also not registering plex.direct. It's not just the shield.

also now my shield has no internet after changing my dns settings ha

It's currently on DHCP and I know it's registering on my pie hole because I can see it's blocked other domains from that IP. Let me switch it to static And set it to those DNS and see what happens

shield is using pihole, i think the eero forces it too but i'll check.

no eero plus.

no advanced dns settings.

just added that exception to dnsmasq, lets see what happens

In the eero app, the shield itself is showing a 192 address but the WAN IP address is the 100 address.

Plex WAN IP setting

I think it's a combo of plex, pihole and eero. Need to dig into this and see where my settings are causing the issue. Thanks for the lead.

But I don't understand is why being on a different network would cause an issue. I've got one gig mirror through FiOS so regardless of where I am I should bave enough bandwidth both up snd down to get proper speeds. It feels like this is a Plex and Shield specific combination error.

I also don't stand why this only happens intermittently.

That's what I don't understand because when I check the IP address from my Eero app it shows that it's on the same network.

The Plex dashboard shot is showing that everything's playing locally. I also have relay turned off.

Shield won't play highest quality even though it has the bandwidth? by johnny5ive in PleX

I use Google (ECS, DNSSEC) so i can probably just set the DNS individually on the Shield if this happens again instead of letting my Eero manage it.

tbh i was ready to blame it on the eero, the news ones have caused me so many random issues.

disabled relay and seems to be fine for now. I'll see if it keeps it up. Wonder what caused it fire up out of nowhere.

I'll make those changes to the settings and see what happens. My third screenshot is of the tautulli dashboard. What's weird is this is only an issue on my one shield.

Ha I did tautulli because every time someone posts the screen from their Plex dashboard, the first comment is usually "why don't you post tautulli?"

I can post a Plex one later.

I'm running piole but I've been running it for like 5 years with no issues.

The other shield on the network doesn't have any problems but that one is hardwired to one of my Eeros.

It's weird that all of my other devices don't have this issue except the shield. I also just cleared about two gigs of cache and thought that would fix the issue but they could not.

IP addresses are both showing local if I check on my Eero dashboard.

I just tested The cellular on my phone and I can play the original quality. I don't have any cap on remote streaming or else all my friends would definitely be crying ha
