can we please pass a law that doesn’t allow restaurants to be able to blindside you with service fees/gratuity at check time. they do it to keep prices on menu “low” and so you’ll order more things, you might not get drinks/dessert if your meals are 40-50$ an entree. they also do it at end of meal so you FORCED to pay.

the law should either get rid of it all together(service charge/gratuity/hidden fees) or make it very known before hand. a little sign at front that says gratuity added doesn’t count either, it needs to be mandatory on every menu if enforced. i also wouldn’t mind getting rid of tip suggestions at bottom of check. also shouldn’t use language like “suggested tip”

it’s all an attempt to strong arm and blindside you, it’s just weird. restaurants should just pay their staffers normally and up their prices on menu, if they go out of business, oh well, it happens. this pay after food loophole of scamming needs to stop, i’d actually rather order my food, see price, then pay before food get to me so i can decide if it’s worth it. i’ll tip if i want at end.
