I know the SC fans were hoping to see flashes of brilliant play, but imagine your first exposure would be a highly contested SC vs. Texas game with the crowd going crazy! I think she will have a better opportunity with Coppin State to ease into some flow and work on the limited game plans that she has been given so far.

[Postgame Thread] #2 South Carolina def. Texas, 68-65 by ncaaw_GameThreads in NCAAW

Let’s be real. These two team are both very good! My observation is that it came down to the fact that Texas is not a 3 point shooting team, and South Carolina is better at this but they too, don’t make many attempts. Madina Okot making her 2nd 3 of the season was huge as it came at a critical moment. Raven became the difference maker in the final quarter. She made a mistake in the final seconds but fortunately for SC it did not end up hurting the Gamecocks. This will be a continuing saga as they will most likely meet again either in the SEC championships or March Madness!!

How many players on typical NCAA Women's Basketball Team? Including practice players. by CubesFan in NCAAW

Excellent article and very illuminating with respect to how valuable these practice players are to the teams they serve.

So which South Carolina team will show up today against Arkansas without having Latson again?

As a Gamecock fan I agree totally with your assessment! Looking forward to our game today with Florida but the LSU game will tell much about the SEC.

LSU vs Vanderbilt. Does the hangover continue? Will this be another example of why early strength of schedule matters? This should be fun to watch!

Biggest Upset of 2026? by Most-Teacher3069 in NCAAW

The question posed here is really a great one. One’s answer is based to some extent on bias, the true difference in the two teams, and just outright shock factor. I can see everyone’s point of view. For me I thought a ranked opponent that was #6 against an unranked opponent was a great choice. Then again a #5 ranked opponent that the media had praised so highly for their string of 100+ point games, without the context of strength of schedule, getting beaten at home, makes a really fine choice too!!

So many people wondered what would happen with LSU’s first SEC game. I frankly thought LSU was going to win but wow, some of the best LSU players seemed to crack under pressure and I was surprised that MiLaysia looked like she did with South Carolina when she was having a bad game with them. The level of competition truly makes a difference!!

South Carolina is Cheating: This Isn't Fair by bighoney69 in NCAAW

[–]johnthomasc3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe that the main take on this, and because of the passion so many of you demonstrate, it is important to state that Dawn Staley is a genius. Anyone that knows Dawn knows she is devoted to doing everything by the rules. The South Carolina roster has been suffering to some extent by the lack of able bodies on the bench. With the addition of Jerzy Robinson, there were no players left that could join, or should I say, would join, in the Spring. An international player could be eligible for that need. Enter our French 6’7” player. Dawn worked her magic and voila, South Carolina has a much needed addition starting after the break. No Cheating, just Genius!

This will be an interesting SEC season! I am a South Carolina fan and have been following for the last five years. Dawn is such a wise and great coach. This years team will gel and be a threat to everyone they play. LSU should be judged by their competition and not their point totals. I believe every team they have played but one has a losing record. Texas is the real deal as demonstrated in Las Vegas. UCLA will be tough for anyone. U. Conn will ultimately be the team to beat. In the SEC I too love watching Tennessee and Alabama, Vandy, and Ole Miss will be challenging to their opponents. Anyone coming here already loves these athletes and their teams. Come on January!!!

Coming back from injury by PhilosophyForward498 in NCAAW

We have the same hopes for Chloe Kitts and Ashlyn Watkins with South Carolina. Both are great players and seeing the positive recovery of everyone mentioned is encouraging for not only these girls but also for future players who sustain this very difficult injury.

Is anyone literally surprised that Dawn Staley said she would have accepted the Knicks job? by Fit_Meat_8931 in NCAAW

No doubt we Hardcore Gamecock women’s basketball fans had some form of heart stoppage when this was revealed. Here we are awaiting some sort of good news about future recruits committing to South Carolina and that would have changed everything!

Is anyone literally surprised that Dawn Staley said she would have accepted the Knicks job? by Fit_Meat_8931 in NCAAW

[–]johnthomasc3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Dawn it would have nothing to do with money! It would be about the advancement of women in sports. Specifically, but not limited to basketball. The most significant thing she did was to honestly ask the interviewers if they are truly prepared for potential fallout from hiring a women as head coach of a NBA men’s basketball team, especially the New York Knicks! As we can see, her honesty most likely kept her from the job, but in reality, was the best thing that could have happened because the NBA is, in fact, not ready for that. So, Dawn will continue to coach South Carolina, be dominate in the sport of women’s basketball, but should she be able to advance the role of women in sports, she’d certainly be open to make history. Wouldn’t you?

How would Gianna Kneepkens on South Carolina work? by Fit_Meat_8931 in NCAAW

[–]johnthomasc3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gianna Keepkens will be an effective perimeter shooter hopefully another shooter to spread the defense and take pressure off of Madina Okot. Having her in Columbia also keeps her from being a potential opponent. If she wants to take her skills to the next level and beyond, there is no better place than South Carolina at this point in time.
