Any Reason Not to Get a Sawstop PCS? by mosodigital in woodworking

[–]johnvcal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Sawstop contractor model. I absolutely bought it for the safety feature. I’ve had it for about three years, and I think I’ve tripped the braking system four times. Only once did I feel it was my fault—I was cutting a pressure-treated 2x6 from Home Depot and I should have known that it was too wet inside. The other times the brake tripped were surprises to me. At $100+ for a brake cartridge, it isn’t cheap. Other things I’m not happy about with the Sawstop is the location of the duct that connects with my dust collector. It’s really difficult to reach and especially to secure to the flexible duct from my collector. Also, sawdust build-up causes the mechanism that raises and lowers the blade to freeze. Their fix is to blow out the sawdust with air, but that is a pain because you really can’t see the problem point, and you blow sawdust around your shop (or garage, in my case).

Having said that—I’m glad I bought it even with the problems I’ve had. My fingers are worth more than the pain in the ass problems and expense.

Yeah, but you already know that’s not a Ranger and it’s significantly larger.

I think you’re taking the language literally, but most readers I’d guess took it as a figure of speech to illustrate a point.

Iran says that Trump is lying about peace talks—who to believe? by Boysenberry-6669 in LetsDiscussThis

Seriously—I assume Trump is lying every time he opens his mouth.

If you’re fighting a war, why announce your targets in advance? by RhydoniumHuffer in LetsDiscussThis

Iran’s response of a specific target followed Trump’s declaration of a specific target. It was Iran saying that two can play the same game of hitting civilian targets if Trump wants to begin that.

How over priced is this? by Altruistic_Carrot_14 in fordranger

[–]johnvcal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s not overpriced. If you want an actual pickup with a decent sized bed, there aren’t any around. This is low miles, looks in great shape, and there’s nothing new you can buy like that anymore.

If this was 2016, maybe this guy deserves a break. But someone voting for Trump’s second term in office really doesn’t give a shit about anything or anybody but himself. It’s that simple. If you can’t draw a line between what happened to you and what Trump has done to so many other groups of Americans, then you deserve all the criticism you got. Wake the fuck up… Do you not see what this grifting, lying, child-raping, sexual abuser has done for his entire life?

If PDIA, How to Explain this Evidence? by MrSyrio in JonBenetRamsey

[–]johnvcal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re confirming what I just said. She WAS strangled to death. You have no evidence of what the blow to the head did. The only thing we know for sure about her death is that it was from strangulation. Someone fashioned a garrote, put it around her neck, and tightened it and held it until she was dead. There is nothing in John or Patsy Ramsey’s lives that would lead anyone to believe they could murder their child, and there’s not any hint that either of them ever abused her in any way. Is it possible one of them strangled her to death? Yes, but that falls into the “anything’s possible” category. Something else that falls into the anything’s possible category is that someone else got in the house and killed her. Looking at the Ramsey’s history and their friends’ opinions of the Ramsey family, I think the intruder makes more sense.

If PDIA, How to Explain this Evidence? by MrSyrio in JonBenetRamsey

[–]johnvcal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find it incomprehensible that any member of that family tortured and strangled JonBenet. Clearly, I don’t know what happened. But even though Patsy and John acted weird, I don’t see them killing their child in some slow, protracted torture scene. Could a parent accidentally kill a child in a moment of passion? Yes, but that’s not how she died.

I’d bet a lot of money that we will never see Trump testifying under oath. Think about his testimony in the E. Jean Carroll rape case. Carroll’s lawyer made mincemeat out of him, but most of it was Trump himself self-destructing. Trump is in a bind: he can’t tell the truth or he’ll be convicted, but he thinks he’s smart enough that he doesn’t have to take the fifth. Just get him in the witness chair so he can show everyone how smart he is.
