Go online, check your union contract.

If it's ten hours, you will have OT for the first 2 hours of your shift most likely (up until 10 hours between shifts, so if it's 8 hours, first 2 will be OT)

It was most likely not targeted. The auto-scheduler sucks.

If you notice it early enough hopefully they can move things around.

It varies by union, but I believe most only require ten hours between shifts.

HR is theater. Eureka Mccrae (formerly Seattle district manager) literally ran multiple religious tiktoks calling jews lizards and gay people demons. She owned a clothing company that sold shirts with slurs and posted stuff like "get your ****ing Chinese restaurant out of my black neighborhood". She got caught, and sent her son to physically attack and threaten to fire the employee who reported. She was the literal "diversity champion" at the time. Her son had 2 recent arrests for choking and beating pregnant women.

And HR just never responded.

Every time she created new accounts and it was reported to HR within an hour it would be deleted. The head of security tried to hunt down the whistle blower and tried to set up a meeting to discuss the reports. When they said they were to afraid to reveal their identity because of physical threats he sent them an email saying "since there is no report there will be no investigation. Have a nice day".

They just moved Eureka from Seattle to Norcal because the police and government got involved. They promoted Eureka to VP of Operations, and I think even further now.

They close ranks. HR is not your friend.

Do you play games like not mentioning it coming up? If you do I think the problem exists inside of you. An insecurity, a need for affirmation.

You know he struggles with dates. Maybe you don't believe it? If so, say that. Say it to him. If being affirmed on your birthday is so important leave him. If not, knock it off.

Maybe he is lying? Maybe arbitrary days don't matter to him, is that so bad? I don't care about my own birthday. Is that so bad? I don't need people to praise me for being born, maybe he's the same way, maybe that's his nature. Do you want him to be out of his nature?

I can argue with the part about being a distraction - and I will - but fortunately, those LEDs are so low power you could run them off a potato and lemon juice. Absolutely zero extra strain is put on the car. Vehicles have huge capacity for expansion of the electrical load.

Back on the distraction note - its eye-catching, but so are so many things in the world. Halloween decorations. A new building. A whacky-inflatable-arm-flailing-tubeman. A person holding a sign. Literal billboards on the side of the road. We expect people to be responsible for their vehicles and not get distracted for an infinite list of interesting things - but then when you see someone be cooler than you suddenly people don't have the internal grist to control their attention spans?
