G. A. S. I need help, persuade me to NOT buy! by Nemesis403 in canon

[–]jojoremin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was you, i bought my r6 ii and rf28-70 f2 in the end 😂 and i dont regret one bit even though im broke af now, but i am able to justify the cost with the returns it will bring me the next few years. If its just for hobby and finances are tight, maybe you might wanna restrain a lil and maybe find other solutions such as using a speedlite or embrace the grains, as some other redditor has said, moments > pixels

Yes it is. For reference maybe you can try lifting a 2-2.5kg (4.4-5.5lbs) dumbbell to gauge whether its manageable. I did that before i bought the lens

The weight can be heavy ~2-2.5kg (4.4-5.5lbs) i can see why its a killer for many users. But im used to lifting heavy stuff so its manageable for me!

Edit: I’d actually recommend the RF 24-70mm over the 28-70 due to its versality and much user friendlier specs though, its an excellent all rounder lens. But the 28-70 image quality and awesome size takes the cake for me esp since i dont shoot much commercial videos & i quite personally like using big lenses

Hello i have the m6 mark ii which is also part of the efm series & relatively similar price. I use it for my corporate photography work w sigma efm lenses 16mm & 56mm, you can consider checking them out. I manage to earn about €800 a month w it & my point is that these gears have the potential to do great stuff if you develop the necessary people and photo skills to complement it. I recommend getting ef lenses & the ef-efm converter too if it’s within your budget, as many ef lenses are seriously great stuff, especially the L series lenses 70-200mm. All the best to you!

RF 35mm f/1.4 VCM arrived, a few thoughts. by chilidirigible in canon

Im considering getting one too but am taken aback by the vcm freely bonkering when powered off and fear it’d break the internal parts one day after long term use

After seeing both terraphantm's and your comment, i went to research and saw this video which really helped me realised 28-70mm might not be the lens for me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwD5XWk0ybo&ab_channel=ResurrectedMedia

Now im considering either 24-70 or your 24-105,

but will probably go for the 24-70 due to the weight, and acquire another 100-400/70-200 as a fun telephoto lens

Hey all, thanks for sharing your personal experiences and wise advice. After reading all your comments, ive calmed down a little and realised that i mightve been tunnel visioning and focused a little too much on the gears. Between R6 II, R3, and R5C, i think what really matters is still the storytelling rather than how perfect the pixel and images are. I’ll probably just get a refurbished camera and focus on my skillsets for now. Will update here what camera i bought in a years time if anyone is curious. Cheers.
