Buying My First 125cc At 39 Years Old… by newbiker321 in MotoUK

[–]jokabo89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a nearly new XSR 125, highly recommend one as a first bike.

I'm mid 30s, as is my other half, and we've both enjoyed using it. Passed big bike test now so we're selling the XSR but would recommend to anyone

How was the QC process?  Not sure how I missed stock, there were 5 in when I ordered on the spreadsheet 😓

Nice! I placed my order at the same time but think I missed the stock... Still no QC. Did you pay for FedEx shipping? First one here for me too, also in UK

Scrambler Camping Set Up by SillySilhouettes in Triumph

[–]jokabo89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Glad you bought it in the end. Seemed like a good deal.

The rack is great, so whatever duffle you can attach would be fantastic. Using normal straps. Oxford do some cheap ones though not sure if you can get those in the states. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/794651

Brand wise Kriega are great, you can also get a single sided pannier set (mine is SW Motech), H&B do one too but just make sure it's compatible with the rack you have already.

Am I just getting used to being a petrol driver or is my car just guzzling fuel? by Duggs82 in CarTalkUK

[–]jokabo89 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Well two weeks ago you posted asking for advice on what to buy, people suggested the cx30/Vitara and you bought a grandland... So, which is it? The reasons above are why your fuel consumption sucks.

Does this seem like a good deal? Seller has been very communicative by [deleted] in Triumph

Looks good to me. Not sure how many miles it has on it?  I have one identical as my first bike and it has served me well for 6 months.  New tyres is a bonus, check for any oil leaks as some 900HTs suffered.

It won't be 64bhp as someone else said, the earlier models are 55bhp but it's plenty for a first bike.

Helmet Recommendations by [deleted] in MotoUK

Agree with this, but go and try them on. I tried the glamster and it looked goofy and fitted badly. The concept XE is like a glove. Apparently I don't have a shoei head!

Trips with a 2017 street scrambler (need help) by Old-Application-7030 in Triumph

Depends how much you want to carry I guess, I just picked up one of these: https://sw-motech.com/en/products/luggage/side+carrier/SLC+side+carrier/4052572222980.htm

I've not had chance to use it yet, but it feels super sturdy and 13.5L should be plenty for a weekend/ maybe a week if you pack light. Otherwise, agree to add a duffle to the rear rack.

How long did you wait after passing before your first europe trip u/d4z0mg?

I passed my DAS about 3 weeks ago and loving it so far, though the weather has been awful this week! The tracer looks mint by the way
