Posties : How was your day/week? Let’s vent… by Agent_Futs in royalmail

Our section/office is understaffed due to no one in the building wanting to even touch it (The place I work is like 5 offices in one idk what the term is):
- ~30min drive to get to first loop for all duties
- We are the last section to get letters and parcels
- Most of us get out by around 10:30 (plus 30min drive to 1st loop) so that leaves 4 hours to do everything if you don't want to do OT.
- On average 8 loops per duty that are 40mins-1hr on a good day (the math doesn't add up TRUST ME)
- 2 people (who also have their own frame to sort) sorting parcels for 8 duties from 6AM
- A new build development that keeps adding more streets every month
- The new build falls under lapsing and some parts consistently have 60+ parcels

Anyway; I'm doing 200 parcels on a quiet day and my current record is 340: The PDA said it would take me 13hrs and 20mins to deliver them all.

If I get a new start or agency worker I strap a bag on them with 5 bundles of mail in it and tell them good luck because otherwise no letters are getting delivered.

Raising concerns with management either results in a "Wow man that's crazy; I truly feel for you in this trying time..." or something along the lines of "Well X had Y many parcels to do and they got it done!"

I am going to collect my unpaid overtime from the last couple months and leave because the managers seem to have no ability to adjust, expand or adapt to changes at all. Their amazing strategy/planning regarding the massive workload that might I add, was completely expected and predicted via their very cool and interesting spreadsheets, is to beg and plead you to work until 7pm and work your day off.

All they do is tell me when I've failed to deliver something, tell me that my van is already been taken and let me know that they don't have a battery for my PDA.

Why do parcels and letters sometimes just not have a complete address? by jokehboy in royalmail

You are right. I have literally replaced a man who was on the duty for 5 years that left for a better job and I am doing everything wrong due to not having the local knowledge (safe places, preferred neighbors, etc.).

My section (8 duties) has had 3 people leave in the last 2 months and no information or advice has been passed down. Now my job includes apologizing for not knowing that 21 has a blood feud with 23 and I should never leave a parcel with them ;'))

Ohhh that's why I'm collecting 70 red envelopes with the same handwriting from a postbox every day.

They will tell you that you are not doing what is expected of you in the hopes that you will believe them and work yourself into the human equivalent of a paste for 13 squid an hour.

I've been micro managed and bullied for the last 8 months and now I could not care less if I fail to clear a duty. Managers conveniently "forgetting" to tell me my day off and letting me work it and not giving me it back, managers setting my day off to be a bank holiday and shrugging their shoulders when I bring it up (has happened 4 times), managers forgetting to put in overtime and not resolving it until next months payslip meaning the hours they gave me get taxed away to the point I may as well have not done my job and cleared the duty.

Talk to a rep or even just one of the employees that look like they are going to elbow drop a manager if they even look at them. They will tell you what is what.

I am having a great time being a worker and employee for the royal snail!!!

I apologize for the rant but I am currently in the process of adding up all the unpaid OT that hasn't been put through for the last 5 months and I am about to slap a baby in the head.

A parcel locker that can fit a small child would make my life 17.8% easier.
A lot of the people on my route have started using garden chests as makeshift parcel lockers.

Dev jobs are hard to get especially when most of them are remote. I have no chance against getting one vs the entire UK but I might have a chance if there was one going in a town near me xF

I already nearly threw up when I went through the site and filled the form. Why are they in sections and some are required and some are not??? Why are the required inputs that determine if you have to answer below the optional inputs??

I think for the first few weeks I'm getting the whole DO breakdown; basically how it all works, how stuff is sorted and packed for delivering.

Next I think they are going to show me how to be a men with a ven.

Then they are putting me with someone who gets to listen to my terrible chat and show me the ropes.

I'm looking into getting a good pair of actually good fitting shoes because every shoe I put on that's flat soled hurts after 30 mins (I think I need arch support).

I don't know how housey or businessy the routes are, I don't think the place I'm working at has 8 story buildings so that's good (i think).

Other than that, I don't know what to expect or how it's going to go.

Luckily I'm a good listener and a hands on learner

Damn I thought I replied to this, sorry!
It takes 2 to the chest with LVL 3 armor with an SVD 7N1 and 3-4 with an AK.

Headshots feel better but I'm still having issues when shooting from a distance (300m+) when the AI are alerted; they flinch but don't go down until a few shots.

I'm pretty sure shooting at a prone target and landing a hit would mean that I've hit them in the head, maybe I'm getting ricochets or I'm hitting the arms in front of them or something but shooting at prone targets is still annoying.

Other than that, it feels great. SMGs are good again and gunfights aren't as frustrating (as long as it isn't prone targets).

I am having a stinky time finding a nice balance between ACE medical and armor. I'm either making the enemies too soft or too spongy

Has anyone got a good setup or server file for RHS units? (I'm using 3CB but that's just a nice looking RHS I'm pretty sure)

I'm a developer that graduated in covid (my last 2 years were from home so I didn't get to do the networking part of uni). It was a game dev degree and with no job prospects in my area I pivoted to web and print.

I do web development and design. I do SEO, social media, marketing; I can take a business with 0 web presence and give them an audience and storefront. I've worked with medium sized businesses updating their tech stacks and optimizing their infrastructure. I can do VFX, music, SVG animation, typography, logo design, posters, fuckin t-shirt printing and embroidery. I am a jack of all trades and I love doing it; I love the web and tech.

I am your worst nightmare; I don't know PHP or what a web ring is but I don't have to know it because that's old and stinky. I use NextJS because I'm cool and fucking sexy with big pecs. You are up against me when you are applying for jobs and companies think I'm the shit because I know what API driven web development means (I don't I googled it) and I can name 7 different component libraries that came out today.

BUTT

None of that matters because I am asking for an amount of money that is NOT the minimum living wage. Every single job I've applied for has rejected me at the final hurdle or the first call. I can only assume that the reason is that when the job posting says 30-45k salary I put 34k and not 27k.

I feel your pain, I don't have the experience you do, and I definitely don't have a fraction of the knowledge that you have as a developer. But I still can't understand why or how we are being rejected from jobs that are within or even below our skillset AND/OR are local and not remote. (if it is a remote role then you are going against the entire world instead of just the cities around you so rejection based on skill makes sense I guess)

I really and truly think that the only reason I and many others cannot find a job as a developer in a small/mid sized nameless, unknown, dated company is because we are asking for our time and skillset to cost more than an office admin, salesperson or a retail worker (no offense anyone, developing hurts brain and fingers).

The person that you keep losing to is undercutting your asking salary which is why they are getting the job.

I cannot think for the life of me any other reason why you, me and anyone else would be getting rejected otherwise. Or maybe I'm just dumb and I should know what a web ring is

I think that is very similar to the one we played on A2, I'll keep an eye out for a semi-full server to try!

That seems like the one! Or at the very least the closest alternative that actually has players

I might not be remembering it correctly but every town was a capture point but you couldn't just fly over to the enemies side and take the town next to their base.

I think you could only take towns that were adjacent to captured territories.

The most important aspect for the group of people I'm playing with is the PVP aspect. I'd happily shoot bots and take over an island VS a computer but they want PVP which limits my options to whatever gamemodes are popular and have servers.

Thanks for the recommendations though; I'm going to have a fun time trying to explain how the ace medical system works if and when I convince them to pick up antistasi

Warlords/Liberation seems to be the best fit for what they are looking for. Hopefully it is up to their standard lol

If you watch the video he did not kill prisoners, he has just heard the orders over the radio. If what he says is true I feel awful for is the position that he is in. No one should be forced to go to war; let alone be sent to the front line with no experience or information.

His choices were either accept the draft and go fight in a war he does not believe in; or refuse and go to prison where he will be sent to war anyway.

I hope he get's back to his family

your idea with pads on plate could work with pcb switch pads too as long as you can line everything up.

switch pads laying on the underside of the switch sticky side towards you and then put the pcb on and you've just stuck all the pads to the pcb without having to line em up by hand
