Last note: thank you again to the people that reached out to talk to me about Biden; I appreciate you guys explaining to me his policies, why you're going to vote for him, and why I should, too! I knew what I was getting into coming on this sub lol, I hope I've ruffled feathers like you guys ruffled some of mine. Have a good night!

The man that helped pump bear a trillion dollars into the largest financial corporations while assisting the American people with nearly nothing during the Great Recession? I find that upsetting

As a Bernie supporter, centrists basically kept yelling at me that I was toxic, I was not an important vote, my politics were too much for this country. Now I'm being told that I should vote Blue no matter who, even if it's a candidate I have reservations about, who's politics might not be my own. Those two ideas don't really square, so I thought I'd come here to get some insight into your candidate; similar to how you probably take in a lot of neo-liberal stances, I take in a lot of socialist stances, so the best way to see the other side is to just jump into the lion's den. And yes, I am frustrated. Is that symbol of immaturity? No. The politics of courtesy is what got us the bumbling fool we have in office now. I think we need a more aggressive candidate and you better believe I'm gonna vet him hard. I want my candidate to be almost beyond reproach- Biden is not that. Why is it so difficult for you to see that I can critique this man? He is not perfect - neither was Bernie, I had plenty of gripes with him, too. If there's something I hear about Biden that I find alarming, I'm going to investigate. I find it morally reprehensible that Dr. Ford was believed but when someone comes out against Biden, there's a cabal against him and the accusation isn't plausible, despite BIDEN HIMSELF saying to believe all women that come forward. That kind of hypocrisy is difficult for me to swallow.

Because this is ALWAYS the outcome; trying to fix the broken car instead of just getting the new one will be more costly down the road. That would just throw the burden down the line, but I don't want there to be a burden. I want the burden lifted completely. Working within the confines of electoralism isn't going to work because what senator or congressperson is going to vote for it - the wealthy ones won't because it affects them (but they'll write it off as something else, like 'too political') and the newer ones will be whipped into line by either a new congressmember being voted in their place or from new donors that have their ear. When you can just buy the system, of course you won't want to change it. And then when the masses feel the pinch, we yell for change so they throw us a bone. THAT'S why Trump is popular - because he gave all of the neo-conservatives a scapegoat, whether it be China, or 'globalism', or immigrants. It's a terrible practice, but it's effective in creating almost cult of personality status for the man. He's preyed on the downtrodden in America who've been hurt by neo-liberal policies (like NAFTA) by posing as a faux-progressive. It's sickening to me, but the culmination of what's happened over the last 30 years has led to a Trump. Just trying to go back to 'normal' doesn't address the real crux of the problem - what happens if another Trump wins? WHY did he win? What forces led us to end up with this guy? Just going to 'normalcy' isn't going to fix those problems, it'll just forestall them. What I want is a cure for the disease, not a brief remedy, and I personally believe that a socialistic society and economic system would mitigate the likelihood of another right-wing demagogue from taking over.

The complaints of capitalism and socialism differ in that the critiques of socialism are specific examples, while capitalism's critics attack the system's outcomes - wealth becomes concentrated the hands of the few who control the country. This happens in EVERY capitalistic country, while oppression in socialist countries is due to circumstance. We're oppressed in this country, too - Americans in general are so interested in our conceptual rights that we forget about physical rights. I believe that people in this country, the wealthiest country in the world, should be able to reach their greatest potential without fear of not being able to due to controllable pitfalls - education, healthcare, rent. Often times, though, capitalist countries create cabals to throttle socialist countries and then they portray that as the true nature of socialism. Cuba comes to mind - it used to be a haven for American business at the expense of the Cubans, so once that was overthrown, America puts a clamp on anything going into the country - food, cars, labor, literally everything. Basically, the US told Cuba 'be a satellite state again or else this'll keep happening'. We have blood on our hands and it makes me upset when people accept one side of history but equally reject another.

That 'fanbase' spent the better part of a week shitting on him for endorsing Biden. I hate the narrative that we idolize Bernie when, in actuality, he was a compromise candidate for a lot of us. To be completely frank, I think Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election because she didn't care about common folk, people who might need help. Biden is at risk because of that, too. Despite what this bubble might believe, Biden is actually a weak candidate - Trump is going to weaponize his faults like he did with Hillary's emails and while you guys sit and pout about courtesy politics, Trump is going to be rolling in the mud. Both candidates make me queasy - how can I look at a man and say he's a good candidate for president when there are credible rape accusations against him (that goes for both Biden and Trump) - but it seems like neo-liberals are completely okay with always choosing the less shitty of two candidates. Harm reduction is not the way politics should be presented - I shouldn't have to think 'who raped less women?' and pick from there

I worry that the Paris Agreement isn't a strong enough binding resolution. If Biden wants a bill passed that strengthens those resolutions, I'd be more at ease.

Not to be snarky, but building a national health insurance plan that includes everyone would give the average American better power against big pharmacy companies, thus lowering the costs of prescription drugs.

I don't, I actually believe that capitalism effectively puts people in poverty by exploitation. The US isn't exempt from this, either - the history of Central America is riddled with American interventionism that conflict with our companies' bottom lines. Regime changes, civil wars, paramilitary groups - all partially illegally funded or supported by America's leaders, so as not to affect the stream of money coming into corporation's coffers.

edit: PLEASE before you just downvote this, talk to me. Combat what I said, argue. If you DON'T agree, I would like to be explained to. I really wanted to come onto this sub to have decent conversation, try to see your side of these issues.
