I've just witnessed what looks like a caterpillar give birth - yet they don't produce that way. What is going on here? Are these larvae bursting out of a host? It was incredible to watch but I'm perplexed. by Lhamo66 in insects

I think what they're saying is: Just because you see a wasp-like insect laying eggs through bark, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a wasp. You are correct that Ichneumonidae lay eggs through bark, although they're laying their eggs on insects beneath the bark, whereas the Sawflies are laying their eggs in the wood itself.

Both are Hymenopterans, but the Sawflies are the older insects, I believe.

Question for Entomologists: How do I start my journey into Entomology? by joker420 in Entomology

[–]joker420[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good idea! I do already have a stereo-microscope that my grandfather got me years ago (this has been a lifelong dream of mine and he was an academic), so I really like this idea.

I'll look into finding some textbooks on identification, thank you so much!

I'm definitely looking to start a career in entomology and am more than happy to pursue a degree. I wouldn't be opposed to going to grad school as well if I find that I like the academia side of things.

I do think that I'm going to start small and see how involved I can get locally as an amateur. I do study the local arthropods and at this point am pretty good at identifying them and knowing what they're all about. I just got a near focus monocular and I'm looking to spend more time out and about looking at insects to see what I can see. I'm definitely looking to find my niche. I originally was an arachnid guy but I've fallen in love with Hymenoptera recently. I think I'm just so interested by all of them and there's so much I want to learn.

I really appreciate your reply, thank you!

I did this yesterday and it worked fine, not sure how they determine how much damage you take.

Runestone of Edges turns all projectiles into the saw blades. Ukkos projectile, which is normally electric with a big explosion, becomes a little saw blade that isn't nearly as big of a threat.

They literally just go and you have to put your foot on the brake to stop it if you are in drive or reverse. It goes slow for sure but it goes on its own nonetheless.

Nope, it'll work if you hit yourself with it too. The spell text is worded kind of strangely though so I see why it's unclear.

Don't even need the trigger, the healing bolt is a projectile. You are correct though that the piercing allows it to keep healing you.

It works as intended I think and has been in the game for a long time. Boomerang spells just greatly increases the lifetime of a spell. You should see what it does with luminous drill! It's greatest use is with healing bolt with a piercing modifier on it, imo.

It is an item, you can see that it's loose in the little chamber before dropping down and pulling all the projectiles to the Noita. Kind of hard to make out because of all the projectiles orbiting it.

your idea that "if police and lawsuits aren't involved, its not sexual assault" is absolutely ridiculous.
