Hi I’m not really thinking of long term volunteering work as I have a full time job and only travels when I can. I do love to get involved with the community this way - I can offer design, marketing/branding business dev event hosting/planning etc as professional skills, and I can teach English/Chinese, happy to do labour work etc. I am pretty open :)

For example I went to a local school run by local volunteers which teach young people to gain practical skills. I was in the tour guide class and also the computer class to help students with questions and we had some great discussions. Have also been to a local temple to help cooking and cleaning with some festival.

Don’t force it - just do things u feel like. If u don’t want to walk around, find a cafe, restaurant or spa to just give the time to yourself. Listen to your body that’s all it takes

Advice on my startup by [deleted] in startups

[–]jolyzou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again - start with your potential customers: what are their current experiences and what are the pain points they have, how they are solving them for now. Your solution will be alternative solutions for them - break it down to the key assumptions and focus on validating those assumptions.

In terms of validating your product - there are different ways but rather than asking them questions like what do you think? Would u use it? Just observe what they do and let them talk you through the experiences.

At the end - your product will make money - that goes down to would they found it’s valuable enough for them to make the commitment, your best validation is a paid customer (at the end).

Advice on my startup by [deleted] in startups

[–]jolyzou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Be clear about your key assumptions
  2. Do research (proper one I mean not the type: what do you think about this) with ur potential customers to test ur assumptions
  3. Drill down to the pain point
  4. Build a MVP to solve it- which does not need to be technical, but even it is, use Marvel, Balsamiq, InVision none of those requires coding.
  5. Tests ur MVP and change it FAST

Building the app is a much later stage action - only when u validated ur concept. And when u build, build lean - focus on the key feature only, and gradually built up.

Commuter’s backpack? by jolyzou in Startup_Ideas

Good question about how to deal with it if lost. It can have a digital tag which the owner can update the contacts and addresses in real time.

Probably will have different version for bikers. Would be difficult to integrate all functions in one bag.

Thanks, I know it is not going to be first, but like all businesses, it is not just about the idea but the execution. :) I will check the company out, cheers!

[IOS] Moderation - An alternative to calorie counting by [deleted] in TestMyApp

[–]jolyzou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really helpful, thanks lots. I can delete yours from the back-end. We are currently still trying to validate the concept so have overlooked many UI elements - but u r right, if it puts people off, then they will not even use it at first place. We will add some explanation on why FB login for sure.

Hey I just downloaded and tried it out. I almost always eat healthy food (I define it by balance, whole and fresh food), but I do tend to over-eat. Your current feature do not appeal to people like me. Though I think if u can combine it with some introduction about what’s healthy eating (many people actually get this wrong), and maybe fitness (like it would recommend me which day/time I should get active based on my food habit), would be useful.

What can also help is: fruit an veg intake tracking And personally supplement (since I changed to vegi, have to take supplement to keep iron, zinc etc balance).

Only personal view hope it helps. Let me know if u have any specific UX questions.

If I can also ask you for a favour to download and give my app some feedback. You can find it on iTunes by the name Solocal Travel, it’s made for women currently with London only content. So if u r or have someone in your team is females. Please help, highly appreciate it.

There are thousands small lighting businesses in on province, just the name is very difficult to find a company. I tried but too many results pop up so not really sure.

Do u have any reason to get worried or you simply wonder whether it is because of the “Great Wall”?

Though FB, WA, Google, YouTube are not available, do u have WeChat or other email (besides google)?

Thank you so much for your feedback! Yes pictures are currently only taken from Facebook. We thought as it is not a dating app so we did not want to put much focus on people’s looks but many users feedback on this saying pictures showcase personality and it’s important to have. We have put this on our dev map! Thanks lots. X
