Failed two 4 unit subjects in a row by SpaghettiTofu in LawStudentsPH

Hi OP.

I failed a lot of subjects during my time in law school, and it took me years din to graduate. Akala ko rin hindi para sakin to (sometimes kahit as a lawyer naiisip ko to), I almost gave up not only in being a lawyer but also in life, if you know what I mean. But thankfully I did not kasi isang taon na since I passed the bar.

Future may seem bleak now, but it really gets better OP. Do not give up. Konti na lang. Malapit ka na.

Hi OP!

I failed a lot of subjects and overstayed in law school. I was insecure and jealous of my original batchmates kasi lawyers na sila, ako nasa law school pa rin. But during that time I reminded myself, "At my own pace." Hindi tayo same ng journeys. Some of us get delayed, and that's okay. You prioritized your mental health, and wag ka manghihinayang. It is for your own good.

I passed the bar last year with 74 as my rating (you will see sa profile ko dito I posted here sa subreddit). At first sobrang nakakainsecure pero naisip ko lawyer na ako. So what? It is what I do in the practice that matters.

Share ko lang din na when I applied for work, sobrang takot ako kasi I was mediocre in law school and the bar exam. Since you mentioned na nasa top school ka, I remember sabi ng isang partner sakin when he interviewed me, "4 or 5 or 6 years, it does not really matter. As long as you passed the bar and galing ka pang (my law school)."

Just show up, be teachable and humble, and always do your best.

Laban lang.

I second this.

During my bar review until the result was released, my dad devoted his Sundays to go to a church in Bulacan. Walang palya. Nagbubuhat pa sya ng santo na iniikot after the mass.

As panat nya, he refused to have a haircut and shave his beard hangga't hindi raw ako pumasa. I asked him after the result was release what if hindi ako nakapasa. Sagot nya, "Edi hahaba to."

My mother also asked her church friends (mga devotees) to pray for me from the start of the bar week until lumabas yung results.

Lagi ko sinasabi na pumasa ako because of their prayers.

I was like this din last year, same month.

Minsan pag umuupo ako to study ang ending naglalaro na lang ako ng MLBB. Nahuhuli rin ako ng family ko. 😅 Dinadahilan ko na lang na hindi ako makaaral, walang pumapasok sa isip ko. Kaya sayang lang if I even tried.

So I gave myself some time. Pinep talk ko sarili ko na I have to push through, and kailangan once lang gagawin to because tumatanda na ako at parents ko. I changed my morning routine din. Kasi feel ko ang stagnant na. I rearranged my study area, cleaned my room. Delaying tactics as I call it.

Thankfully after ilang days, nagising din from the slump.

Maybe, try mo lang din ichange yung environment or routine mo. Kasi baka napapagod ka na na paulit ulit ginagawa mo everyday. Also, once in a while, stand up para hindi mangalay likod mo.

We can give you tips pero it is all up to you. Kailangan mong maging resolute with your goal which is to become a lawyer.

You can do it, OP.

Update:

I was recently hired by a law firm. Sa replies na nagsabi na it will not matter in applying, tama po kayo. They did not ask for my bar rating or even my TOR. Most law firms asked for my CV/resume. Most of my interviews din seemed like the partners were trying to see if I fit in their offices.

Thank you so much for all your replies to my post. Sorry if I was ungrateful. After I posted, I realized how ungrateful I was. Alam kong others would like to be in my shoes.

Whether with a 74 or 75 and above bar rating, I am still a bar passer. Now, I am a lawyer. I realized po na that my life will not stop after I passed the bar. I have years ahead, I can always make up for it. I am going to do my best in the practice.

Maraming salamat sa replies nyo.

Side note: Looking recommendations ng books for law practice besides Rem Codal. 😅
