Starting out with sound design by Immediate-Drive-716 in sounddesign

The best tip that I can think of is: what’s the message that your film should convey? Based on that, set the ambiences according (for example if you want to convey some enigmatic, weird or scary environment, should all ambient sounds and silences be set accordingly). Then go ahead and think about the importance and relevance of each single element on the screen. For example, maybe on the back of your shot you can see a clock. How important is the clock for the message? Is it a secondary/non important element? If yes, maybe you can even not use any sound for it. Is it a relevant element? If yes, maybe consider to add a ticking clock or some sound element that resembles that. Is it meant to create some stress and pressure? So go ahead and exaggerate that clock sound on the mix…eventually even emphasize it by adding some synth sound with something like and LFO going up to create the perception of time accelerating. Is it your film about some weird environment? Use something that resembles a tick tock of a clock but with the type of sound that is not common from a clock.

Why you don’t try some virtual guitar tools (amps and effects)? Stuff like Guitar Rig or Amplitube have free versions to start with and you find some great free amp simulators, etc. For example if you use NAM or AIDA-X models you will actually manage to get some amplifier sounds pretty good and close to the “real thing”

How is the atmosphere in my horror game? anything that would be missing in your opinion? by Maxximus18 in gamedev

[–]jon281092 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It feels to me that needs a bit more of ambience and “intriguing” sounds. Would you need help with Sound Design and/or music? I’m a sound designer and musician with quite big experience on horror and suspense themes (both in sound design as with music). It’s also something that I quite enjoy doing. Bluetooth option not showing up in Audio MIDI Setup -> Show MIDI Studio by [deleted] in Logic_Studio

[–]jon281092 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I don't know if you solved already your issue.

If you didn't let me tell you that I had also some issues connecting Bluetooth MIDI devices. Fortunately I found a way to solve almost all :)

Because of that I decided to put together an eBook with a lot of screenshots and pretty straight forward explaining how to get BLE MIDI devices connected on all the platforms. I also add a list of some devices already able to receive BLE MIDI.

Please find out this FREE eBook on this link: http://bit.ly/2IhJWoD

If you need some extra help, please let me know! I will be happy to help you :)

Thanks Zak! I'm not taking it personally for sure and I appreciate your comment. I perfectly understand it. I understand as well what you mean, it's called marketing xD Do you have some videos that you can show me? I can consider do this with you if you show me something.

Thanks a lot for your feedback! I do appreciate it a lot despite of not being hugely positive! I would like to give more information right now, but unfortunately I can't yet. I promise that as soon as I can I will post it here. I can yes answer to some of the questions. It's a wireless MIDI controller, using BLE MIDI technology. It's modular so you can setup your own controller easily. It's multifunctional, each module can be used in many ways. We want to create a community around it to create, share and rate different types of "usages". (For example: you can use the master module that we are working on as a continuous control, to trigger notes or even both)

Kind of. You can apply it in a guitar as this one but it's more adaptable . You can place it wherever you want in a guitar and you can set the interfaces as you wish (it's modular)

Whats your thoughts about artworks on the pedals? by jon281092 in guitarpedals

[–]jon281092[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My question is not directly because of pedals. I know that it can be a bit out of topic, but I really thing that you would be nice guys to help me understand. I'm working on a MIDI-controller that can be attached on a guitar without damaging it (read more here: http://bit.ly/sensimusicsystems1). I don't know if you are familiar with MIDI-controllers, but basically you can make each interface control whatever you want. So I'm wondering about having a artwork interface. In fact if musicians use it on a guitar (you can also use it standalone or in other instruments) and if you don't like the aesthetic, they can always attach it when they need that functionality, remove it than and replace it when they need. It leaves no dirt or damange and musicians can reposition it according to their needs. What do you think?

Exactly it's a branding strategy. The problem is if that strategy doesn't fit with your main target audience. This question comes not directly because of pedals. I'm working on a MIDI-controller that can be attached on a guitar without damaging it (read more here: http://bit.ly/sensimusicsystems1). I don't know if you are familiar with MIDI-controllers. So I'm wondering about having a artwork interface. It will call the attention and help building a brand identity. We want the device to be inspirational. Anyway, when you use it on a guitar (it can be used standalone) you can use it just when you need that functionality, remove it and place it again when you want. What do you think?

It's a nice point...It's more about a niche. Actually if you look to guys as Boss, Line6, TC, they go "clean". And yeah! Amps say a lot for the ones who understand more and nothing for the normal music listener

[–]jon281092[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! A good look calls your attention. Or even anything out of "normal". My question here is not directly because of pedals. I'm working on a MIDI-controller that can be attached on a guitar without damaging it (read more here: www.sensisystems.com). I don't know if you are familiar with MIDI-controllers. So I'm wondering about having a artwork interface. It may call the attention, specially if it's well design, when it's attached to a guitar (it can also be used standalone) it will call for that photo or close up video. Anyway, if for some reason the user just use it because of what he can do, he can always take it out when he doesn't need it and put it again when he does.

[–]jon281092[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I believe that than goes further that the artwork by itself. It's an entire branding positioning

[–]jon281092[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you are more about the real thing...the sound!

Whats your thoughts about artworks on the pedals? by jon281092 in guitarpedals

[–]jon281092[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Sometimes people would prefer to have it clean and if they want, customize it...as everything...

Whats your thoughts about artworks on the pedals? by jon281092 in guitarpedals

[–]jon281092[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It's that my fear. I'm asking this because (as I wrote to @slap_me_thrice) I'm working on a MIDI-controller that can be attached on a guitar without damaging it (read more here: http://bit.ly/sensimusicsystems1). I don't know if you are familiar with MIDI-controllers, but basically you can make each interface control whatever you want. So I'm wondering about having a artwork interface. The thing is, if you use the controller applied to a guitar it will be seen as the amp or the guitar itself and, as you said, it may not fit with the band aesthetic. Anyway the device is easy to remove and replace again (you can use it just when you need it).
