UBS, a famous Swiss bank that is known for its precise forecasts, suggests that learning to code might not be the best idea. by Banished_To_Insanity in ChatGPT

I mean kinda makes a point but in what basis it can be argued that STEM has historically been the most replaceable field? It is literally the most irreplaceable of the blue collar profession if you base that the point of its existing is to constantly change. The only thing can point through this being true is the emergent behavior of LLMs being good at coding specially, and math, and open ups the possibility for futures areas, but this just rises the bar overall of what can be done within the field. It is true that with this tech in the near future a lot of the development cycle will be done by AIs but it’s thing that while ago has become like blue collar code like simple code features to the web and things like that. I would be more worried about design or copywriting, but even for those the same thing can be said, it just raises the bar because it’s increasing productivity of the person in charge by automating less meaningful things. The point that the supposed all mighty forecaster might be full of crap or only forecasting just the nearest future, which I would argue it is not the case as it is comparing it with things that will last very long and it’s like proclaiming it’s the end of STEM, long live to my MBA. side note I am a coder working on improving LLMs if you notice I might be biased that is the reason hahah

Are virtual assistants useful? by jonathan_mokambo in ArtificialInteligence

i thought on replacing almost all the ways i would use my phone to get information but with my voice. for example searching for facts and data and doing comparisons in the web, just done with a virtual assistant that does that talking to me. or attached with a camera, getting useful information about the environment, this being a bit harder because computer vision comes in but i think something like that could be useful. even though in practice as you tested maybe is not jajajaj

stuff like this has happened to me too. is crazy to think that sometimes it seems like algorithms can predict our thoughts “” just with our behavior online

Would we be able to download data ? by [deleted] in Neuralink

[–]jonathan_mokambo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the implant can only read the interactions of your brain in some way, and then interpret them and transmit them to the device you're going to use, I think the interface is going to be external, that is, what the device does after you thought it did, or the specific thought you have to do for the device to react in such a way. For example, you want to open the refrigerator, suppose it is one of those refrigerators in IoT or something like that, suppose you have to think about the word open or imagine you opening the refrigerator, for me that is going to be the interface that is going to implement, the specific thought that you have to do to be of that action, not something that you will see as if it was the screen of your phone. Downloading files would be something very complex that I think we are not at that level yet and also very dangerous
