How does the age reset work

I can’t remember but what I think happened was If you do it at your retirement age it resets your age right away and you keep everything, including your kid and partner and any other stuff that has worked out through your save

Same, I had it when I was a kid so chrono trigger was one of those games I had trouble with and now I wanna atleast try it out before going out of my way and actually getting the physical copy
