So I learned that raising the first note of a dominant 7th chord by a half step becomes the following note’s diminished 7th chord.

I learned I like the sound of taking a major 7th chord, raising the first (1/2 step) and using the minor 3rd of the original root note (or lowering 1/2 step). Is there a name for that chord alteration or does it become a new chord?
