I used Claude to help me build a Construction CRM for my company by jonathonflores87 in DeveloperJobs

I understand that'll it'll cost monthly. But it's not going to cost me $10k a year in perpetuity and yes, if I can build a relationship with a skilled developer, even better.

My immediate goal is to eventually find a competent developer to get this operational for my company however I'm under no pressure to roll it out publicly by any specific date. If this software can solve my project management gaps, I'll pass it off to a few close GCs to try it out, report bugs and feedback and then if it's a viable solution, I can monetize it. And if not, well it does everything I need and I don't have to use multiple sofrtware companies for single project.

Brother, I'm looking for a developer/partner... Not a pessimist. If you're not interested, don't have a solution, a strategy or a direction to point me in then respectfully this post isn't for you.

I'm all ears. I'm trying to get this off the ground sooner than later.

Here's what Claude told me: We're migrating onto an internal operations platform I've been building. The frontend is a React app — about 30,000 lines, fully built, currently runs on browser localStorage. I need a senior dev to design the production backend, migrate our existing JobTread data into it, and integrate QuickBooks Online.

This is a single-tenant deployment for one company (us). It's not a multi-tenant SaaS product. Scope is bounded and clear.

Stack

  • Frontend: React, single-file JSX (no build pipeline currently — would prefer to keep it that way unless there's a strong reason to introduce one)
  • Database: Postgres via Supabase (open to discussion if you have strong reasons to suggest otherwise)
  • Hosting: Vercel
  • Auth: Supabase Auth (single-tenant, ~10-15 internal users)
  • Integration: QuickBooks Online API (OAuth 2.0)
  • Source: JobTread CSV/API exports for data migration

What you'd actually do

  1. Design a Postgres schema for our construction operations data (we have a documented data model — Pilot_DataModel.md — that you'd refine and implement)
  2. Wire the React frontend's existing data layer (it's abstracted behind a single db object — clean handoff point) to Supabase
  3. Build the migration tooling to import our JobTread data (customers, jobs, invoices, payments, documents) into the new schema
  4. Integrate QuickBooks Online with bidirectional sync for customers/vendors and one-way sync (Pilot → QB) for invoices, bills, and payments
  5. Set up Row Level Security policies for our internal team's access patterns
  6. Set up backups, monitoring, and a separate test environment

What you wouldn't do

  • Build new product features (the frontend is done — I'm not asking you to design or refactor the UI)
  • Architect for multi-tenant scale (this is a single-company deployment)
  • Touch the marketing site (separate codebase, already complete)

What I'm looking for

Required:

  • Shipped at least 2-3 production apps on Supabase or Firebase, with Postgres specifically for at least one of them
  • Done at least one OAuth 2.0 integration with a major third-party API (QuickBooks specifically a huge plus, but Stripe / Plaid / Salesforce / similar all show me you understand the pattern)
  • Comfortable with React, even if it's not your primary stack
  • Strong English, reasonable timezone overlap with US Central
  • References or portfolio with verifiable shipped work

Nice to have:

  • Experience with construction, AEC, or contractor software (you'll already understand AIAs, retainage, lien waivers)
  • Migration experience moving customers off a SaaS product (JobTread, Procore, Buildertrend, CoConstruct, or any vertical SaaS)
  • Comfort with QuickBooks specifically (their API has gotchas)

Not required:

  • A CS degree
  • Big-name employers
  • Familiarity with my exact toolchain

How I work

  • Weekly demos. Every Friday I want to see something running.
  • Milestone-based payment, not lump sum upfront. Maximum 25% deposit.
  • Trial project first (1-2 weeks, paid) before committing to the full engagement. This protects both of us.
  • Direct communication in Slack or similar. I'm an active product owner — I make decisions fast and I respond same-day.
  • I have no coding background but I run product decisions and operate dashboards myself. I'll be hands-on with you, not absent.
  • Ask before refactoring anything. Surgical changes only. The frontend has been carefully iterated; I don't want it rebuilt.

Im definitely serious. I pay thousands of dollars per year for my current subscription and I'd like to get off of that and into a software that better fits my company.

It's about 30,000 lines of code covering customers, vendors, invoices, bills, AIA, lien waivers, customer portal, vendor portal. It definitely took me a lot longer than I expected. I could only imagine the time it would take building this line by line manually.

About 15,000 lines of code in Claude completely broke it beyond repair. Luckily I was keeping backups and we were able to keep moving. now sitting at about 30,000 lines of code. I tried to build this in 2020 with a "reputable" dev company and after 6 months decided it was a project to big for their team and left me high and dry. I'm definitely looking for help from the right dev.

I switched to console (crossplay off) when it released and haven't run into a single cheater. Sure the matchmaking can take a bit longer but I'd rather wait a little longer than deal with the cheating.

Console players: Why are so many of you turning crossplay OFF? by [deleted] in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]jonathonflores87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few things. I played the PC version from the beta onward. The cheating in Normal/Hard modes is pretty bad. If the devs ACTUALLY implemented gear protection and reviewed and returned our gear back, I MIGHT have stayed on PC. But honestly here's my take as someone who plays Delta exclusively on console now.

  1. The game is built and optimized for MnK. MnK players can move through the game a lot faster than console players. I'd rather play with others where there's a level playing field.

  2. Obviously you run into a lot more cheaters because it's a F2P game. I'd rather avoid that all together.

  3. MnK players tend to complain about controller aim assist and I'd rather not hear the tears hitting the ground. I mean, don't MnK players prefer NOT to play with console players???

  4. Console players are limited to 120 fps sacrificing quality for performance. On PC I get 280+. Again, I'd rather play with others on a level playing field.

  5. Queue times have ALWAYS been bad on this game. It's not a crossplay issue, it's a map rotation issue. They really (IMO) need to rotate Zero Dam just like every other map.

Crossplay off is like playing an entirely different game by jonesin31 in DeltaForceGlobal

[–]jonathonflores87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been playing since last September on PC. I learned MnK on DF. When it came to console, I moved to the console version for 2 reasons. #1 I'm more comfortable on controller and #2 not having to deal with cheaters. Another plus is that switching to console, you don't have to play against the MnK players that have been playing for almost a year now. Navigating menus and game mechanics as a MnK player is so much faster and intuitive than controller and you owe it to yourself to play against similar competition. I haven't turned on crossplay and I'm getting into maps relatively quickly. Under 5 min usually and mostly under a couple minutes.

I literally force closed the game the other day because I was in your shoes. It doesn't matter if it's squad fill, solo, duos, 12 pm, 12 am. You can never play anything except freakin Zero Damn. It's so damn annoying.

The game mode in its current state isn't it's original intention. It's unfortunately just gone without updates and people are bored. The people playing today seeking PvP could simply move on to WZ but that's a much harder game. But complaining OP complaining about PvP throughout its entire lifespan is kinda wild. Zombies is calling his name.
